<p>Position Type:</p> <p>Student Support Services</p> <p>Date Posted:</p> <p>1/26/2026</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>New London High School Multi Magnet Campus</p> <p>  Additional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>EMPLOYMENT TERMS: Stipend-based (Internal), Flexible hours, including occasional evenings for family meetings or morning networking events.</p> <p>POSITION OVERVIEW: This stipend work will lead the development and expansion of community-based vocational opportunities for students, prior to eligibility in the SOS program. This role focuses on bridging the gap between educational settings and competitive integrated employment. You will act as the primary liaison between the program, local businesses, and families to ensure students have a clear, supported pathway to build pre-vocational skills to be successful.</p> <p>TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ol> <li>Program Strategy & Scope </li></ol> <ul> <li>Define Goals: Establish measurable benchmarks for student progress and program expansion. </li></ul> <ol start="2"> <li>Business Development & Job Site Identification </li></ol> <ul> <li>Identify Partners: Scout and vet local businesses to serve as vocational training sites or "shadow" opportunities. </li><li>Onboarding: Negotiate site agreements and educate business owners on the benefits of inclusive hiring and student support needs. </li></ul> <ol start="3"> <li>Outreach & Promotion </li></ol> <ul> <li>Community Awareness: Promote the program through local agencies, networking events, and social media to build a "disability-confident" local economy. </li></ul> <ol start="4"> <li>Family Education & Support </li></ol> <ul> <li>Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for parents navigating the shift from school-led to agency-led support. </li></ul> <ol start="5"> <li>Collaboration & Networking </li></ol> <ul> <li>Peer Connectivity: Research and meet with coordinators of similar programs in the region to share best practices and potentially create a regional transition network. </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Experience in Special Education and currently employed by NLPS as a special education teacher. </li></ul> <p>SALARY: Stipend position, $4000/ per year</p>
