<p>This position supervises and participates in equipment maintenance. This is your opportunity to contribute directly to the health and sustainability of Savannah's water infrastructure and make a meaningful impact every day.</p> <ul> <li> <p>Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals.</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinates, assigns, and reviews work and establishes work schedules; maintains standards; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinates work with contractors and other utility providers.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs job-site inspections to investigate damage and conclude the repair assignment, including the mitigation of overflows.</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinates emergency repairs.</p> </li><li> <p>Schedules for repair and maintenance on emergency bypass pumps and air compressors</p> </li><li> <p>Completes and submits weekly timesheets; fills out leave, compensation,return-to-duty, overtime, and other personnel-related documents.</p> </li><li> <p>Trains personnel into tools and techniques.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains professional certifications and attends training.</p> </li><li> <p>Completes accident and injury forms.</p> </li></ul> <p>High School Diploma or GED equivalent plus four (4) years of experience in utilities, water/wastewater, industrial maintenance, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.</p> <p>Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving history.</p> <p>Requires the following certification/license(s) or ability to obtain within six (6) months of employment:</p> <p>Georgia Wastewater Operator Class III</p> <p>Work Location: 208 Agonic Road</p> <p>Work Hours: 7 am-3:30 pm, Monday-Friday, rotating weekends</p> <p>AdditionalRequirements</p> <p>Background investigation, including supervised drug screen, post offer/pre-employment medical screen, and verification of education, certifications, and licenses required prior to employment.</p> <ul> <li> <p>Knowledge of city policies and procedures.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of the departmental maintenance manual  </p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of construction operations.  </p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of applicable ADA guidelines.</p> </li><li> <p>Skill in the use of computers and other standard office equipment. </p> </li><li> <p>Skills in organization and interpersonal relations.</p> </li><li> <p>Skill in the maintenance and operation of small and medium-sized equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Skill in oral and written communication.</p> </li></ul> <p>MinimumStandards</p> <p>SUPERVISORY CONTROLS: The Director assigns work in terms of very general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures and the nature and propriety of the final results.</p> <p>GUIDELINES: Guidelines include plant operation guidelines; local, state,; environmental regulations; city policies and procedures; and safety policies and practices. These guidelines require judgment, selection, and interpretation in application.</p> <p>COMPLEXITY: The work consists of varied administrative, supervisory, and technical maintenance duties. The need to perform multiple tasks at the same time contributes to the complexity of the position.</p> <p>SCOPE OF EFFECT: The purpose of this position is to supervise mechanical repair and maintenance activities. Successful performance in this position ensures an adequate supply of safe drinking water.</p> <p>PERSONAL CONTACTS: Contacts are typically with co-workers, department heads, other city employees, elected and appointed officials, state and federal agency representatives, engineers, consultants, architects, and business owners. developers, vendors, and members of the general public.</p> <p>PURPOSE OF CONTACTS: Contacts are typically to give or exchange information, motivate personnel, provide services, resolve problems, justify decisions, and negotiate and settle matters.</p> <p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, walking, bending, or crouching. The employee frequently lifts light and heavy objects. climbs ladders, and uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity.</p> <p>WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work is typically performed in an office, at department facilities, or outdoors. The employee may be exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, machinery with moving parts, contagious or infectious diseases, irritating chemicals, and occasional cold or inclement weather.
