<p>Peer Advisors are students who have studied abroad and are looking to share their experiences with the Stonehill community and aid the Office of International Programs (OIP) in both marketing study abroad across campus and serving as an OIP representative within their academic discipline (this may include liaising with faculty, classroom visits, presentations to academic clubs/societies, etc.).</p> <p>Peer Advisors will be paid at regular work study rates and typically work 2-4 hours/week in a combination of info sessions and office duties. Helping the Office of International Programs during 2-3 evening events is also required.</p> <p>Appointment as a Peer Advisor is for one academic semester with the option to extend for the next academic year.</p> <p>The Office of International Programs seeks to compile a strong team who collectivity is representative of Stonehill students and their study abroad experiences. Some functions are sought out each year while others are assigned on a needs-basis. Students are asked to identify at least one interest/skill area mentioned below.</p> <p>Social Media</p> <p>This specialty area is responsible for ensuring that current study abroad students are engaging with our social media accounts. In addition, they will monitor the Instagram feed and save photos that might be suitable for reposting (while securing appropriate approvals from students to do so.) This will also include promoting our events through social media.</p> <p>Marketing/Graphic Design/Media</p> <p>This specialty area supports the design and distribution of social media/printed/video (video a plus but not a requirement) or promotional campus materials. Students with a background and/or talent for graphic design may be particularly suited.</p> <p>Student Engagement Liaison</p> <p>This specialty area will liaise with on-campus student clubs and organizations to partner with in outreach efforts, which will include resident assistant programs. In this role, this individual will help recruit returned study abroad students to speak on the office's behalf in times when Peer Advisors are not available and/or additional individuals are needed i.e. special admissions events, open houses etc.</p> <p>Budgeting/Finance/Scholarship</p> <p>This specialty area will liaise with Stonehill's Financial Services and ensure that the marketing and social media team members are aware of upcoming scholarship deadlines and announcing them appropriately to the Stonehill community. Individuals with knowledge or skills in the following areas may be particularly well-suited 1) experience with applying for scholarships and external funding opportunities 2) budgeting experience and/or those who exercised money management skills while abroad.</p> <p>Operations/Special Projects</p> <p>This specialty area is ideally suited for someone who demonstrates leadership skills and/or has previously held other leadership roles on campus. In this role, this individual will assist with all Peer Advisor staff meetings and ensure office hours are covered. In addition, they will assist with any number of special projects as they arise throughout the year.
