We are the top performing charter school in Gary, Indiana. We are one of the few Indiana schools offering an early college program, which allows our qualifying high school students to take real college courses for real college credit, free of charge to our students and their families. Our teachers cultivate in our students the critical thinking skills they will need to understand how the world around them works and to become leaders and agents of positive change in the world.</p> <p>REPORTS TO/TERM:</p> <p>Director of SPED</p> <p>This is a 10-month position.</p> <p>REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>Associates Degree or higher (32 credit hours or higher)</p> <p>At least two years' experience working with urban children</p> <p>Essential Key Functions:</p> <p>A SPED Paraprofessional will perform the following duties:</p> <p>Assists teacher in coordinating lessons and activities</p> <p>Assist teacher in maintaining discipline</p> <p>Assist students with personal hygiene</p> <p>Provide lunchroom and playground supervision</p> <p>Maintain student service logs</p> <p>Provide service to students</p> <p>Assemble small groups</p> <p>Work individually with students</p> <p>Collaborate with general education teachers</p> <p>Attend all required staff meetings</p> <p>Work as a team member</p> <p>Attend all professional development opportunities</p> <p>Work under the direction of the Resource Teacher</p> <p>Other functions assigned by supervisor</p> <p>Follow all school policies</p> <p>Dress professionally</p>
