<p>Job Description:</p> <p>The Assistant Director of Financial Aid is responsible for financial aid operations, serving a caseload for the Dean College undergraduate population of students. This role ensures that Dean College students and families receive the highest quality service from the Student Financial Planning and Services office. Responsibilities include managing and assisting with the financial aid application process, file review, and financial aid awarding, while coordinating with various departments within the College. Additionally, the Assistant Director will oversee a portfolio of program responsibilities, determined by office leadership based on expertise, office coverage, and professional development.</p> <p>This is a full-time, 12-month, exempt position.</p> <p>Position responsibilities include:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Caseload Management:</p> </li><li> <p>Responsible for federally compliant file review, verification, and packaging of financial aid for students in a designated caseload. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and college policies.</p> </li><li> <p>Outreach for additional documentation, providing counseling and explanation of required paperwork.</p> </li><li> <p>Financial counseling - offered in person, virtually, or by phone - helps families explore options for covering their out-of-pocket expenses to attend Dean College.</p> </li><li> <p>Review appeals for additional funding and possible professional judgement review</p> </li><li> <p>Enrollment and Retention:</p> </li><li> <p>As an integral member of the Center for Student Financial Planning and Services team, provide excellent customer service to students and families.</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in campus recruitment and yield events, educational webinars, new student orientation, and financial literacy.</p> </li><li> <p>Portfolio Assignments:</p> </li><li> <p>Responsible for exit counseling for withdrawals and creates packets for graduates.</p> </li><li> <p>Manage a designated program of responsibilities as assigned by office leadership, which may include:</p> </li><li> <p>State Grant programs</p> </li><li> <p>Financial Literacy programming</p> </li><li> <p>Private lending relationships and loan management</p> </li><li> <p>Academic progress monitoring</p> </li><li> <p>Work-study liaison responsibilities</p> </li><li> <p>Communications and website management</p> </li><li> <p>Compliance:</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure adherence to federal and state financial aid regulations.</p> </li><li> <p>Stay updated on changes to financial aid policies and procedures.</p> </li><li> <p>Complete required federal and state financial aid compliance training.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain compliance with MA State Grant program requirements.</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in MASFAA annual tax training.</p> </li><li> <p>Other duties as assigned or required.</p> </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree required. </li><li>3 years of relevant experience working in a financial aid office required. </li><li>Prior experience with Colleague considered an asset. </li><li>Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, with a proven ability to work collaboratively as a team player. </li><li>Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality, required. </li></ul> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>Dean College is an equal-opportunity, Title IX institution and pledges to recruit, select and promote diversity by providing equality of opportunity in higher education for all persons, including faculty and staff with respect to hiring, continuation, promotion, and applicants for admission, enrolled students and graduates without discrimination or segregation.</p> <p>The College is interested in candidates who have the communication skills and cross-cultural abilities to maximize their effectiveness with diverse groups of colleagues, students, faculty, and community members.
