<p>An employee in this class performs highly specialized work for a health services agency related to the collection of revenues from Medicare, Medicaid, and other third-party insurers. Work involves the development and implementation of revenue collection procedures, and the monitoring of established systems. The incumbent works with considerable independence and utilizes accounting skills in the performance of duties. Work is reviewed through reports and conferences with a professional or administrative supervisor.</p> <p>Does related work as required.</p> <p>Key Elements Of The Role:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Acts as the liaison between the department's division staff, finance staff and Electronic Medical Records (EMR)/billing vendor;</p> </li><li> <p>Provides guidance and technical support to clinic staff on billing and insurance-related matters;</p> </li><li> <p>Reviews billing and insurance claims issues provided by billing vendor to resolve;</p> </li><li> <p>Serves as a liaison between patients and healthcare professionals regarding billing and insurance-related matters;</p> </li><li> <p>Creates educational materials on health insurance-related matters;</p> </li><li> <p>Provides training to clinic staff on billing and health insurance rules, regulations and guidance;</p> </li><li> <p>Evaluates the effects of new laws and regulations on insurance processes;</p> </li><li> <p>Provides input on policies and procedures related to health insurance;</p> </li><li> <p>Reviews reports, researches and resolves issues identified by the EMR/billing vendor;</p> </li><li> <p>Works with clinic staff and EMR/billing vendor to resolve insurance payment and billing errors;</p> </li><li> <p>Adheres to confidentiality, state, federal, and HIPAA laws and guidelines with regard to patient records; and</p> </li><li> <p>Performs other duties as requested or assigned.</p> </li></ul> <p>Benefits For You Now And Your Future</p> <ul> <li> <p>Health Insurance: Suffolk offers a comprehensive health insurance plan, including medical, dental, and vision coverage</p> </li><li> <p>Pension</p> </li><li> <p>Paid Time Off: Vacation (2 weeks to start) is accrued based on length of service; sick leave allows employees to take time off for illness without sacrificing pay; personal days can be used for a variety of reasons; and thirteen (13) paid holidays.</p> </li><li> <p>Work-Life Balance: County jobs offer regular working hours, reducing the need for overtime or irregular shifts. This helps employees maintain a good work-life balance.</p> </li></ul> <p>Overall, county government jobs offer a combination of competitive benefits and job security, making them an attractive option for many job seekers.</p> <p>Salary: $56,637</p> <p>Work Schedule:</p> <p>Monday - Friday</p> <p>9:00AM - 5:00PM</p> <ul> <li>This position does not offer relocation assistance at this time </li></ul> <p>Sponsorship is not available for this role</p> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>OPEN COMPETITIVE</p> <p>EITHER:</p> <p>a) Graduation from a college with federally-authorized accreditation or registration by NY State with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Health Administration, Public Health, or a related field and two (2) years of experience in the analysis of financial statements, medical billing, or in the collection of revenues from Medicare/Medicaid or other third-party insurers; OR,</p> <p>b) Possession of a satisfactory certification* in medical billing or coding, and four (4) years of experience in the analysis of financial statements, medical billing, or in the collection of revenues from Medicare/Medicaid or other third-party insurers.</p> <p>NOTES: Additional relevant education from a New York State or regionally accredited college or university may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of one (1) year.</p> <ul> <li>Satisfactory certification shall be interpreted as a certification that sufficiently demonstrates the candidate has completed education, experience, and/or training necessary to obtain thorough knowledge of the principals, practices, and methods of medical billing or coding. </li></ul> <p>NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:</p> <ul> <li> <p>At the time of appointment, and during employment in this title, employees will be required to possess a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State.</p> </li><li> <p>Candidates may be subject to a background investigation</p> </li></ul> <p>This Role Is A Provisional Appointment</p> <p>A provisional appointment, which occurs only in the competitive class, is a temporary appointment to a position for which no eligible list exists or for which an eligible list exists with fewer than three candidates who are willing to accept the position. In order to become permanent, the employee who is provisionally appointed must take the next examination for the position in question. The appointment to the position is then made from among the three highest scoring passing candidates who indicate their willingness to accept the position.
