<p>Job Description:</p> <p>NEWTOWN PUBLIC SCHOOLS</p> <p>February 19, 2026</p> <p>POSITION: Special Education Job Coach - Transition Program</p> <p>LOCATIONS: Newtown / Danbury</p> <p>STARTING DATE: Immediately</p> <p>REMUNERATION: $21.87 / Hour - Drivers Wage $26.40 / Hour</p> <p>RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Report to the Transition Coordinator and Supervisor of Pupil Services </li><li>Support and supervise students (18 to 22 year olds) individually and/or in small groups in the classroom and in community vocational worksites </li><li>Under the direction of the Special Education / Transition Coordinator, implement and support student needs within the community and daily functional living skills </li><li>Teach and continually evaluate student skills and abilities at worksites and assist with appropriate learning strategies when necessary </li><li>Consistently work to improve student independence </li><li>Maintain progress notes and assess level of performance both in the community, worksite and/or classroom </li><li>Drive Program vehicle (school transit van with up to 15 seating capacity) for morning or afternoon home/school pickup/drop off or during the day in community when required </li><li>Maintain strict confidentiality at all times </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>College degree in education, psychology, human services, or related field preferred </li><li>In lieu of degree, minimum of three (3) years of related experience working in special education, vocational or life skills program or directly with individuals with intellectual or other disabilities is required </li><li>Valid CT driver's license </li><li>Already possess or agree to obtain CT "V" driving endorsement after employment acceptance.
