<p>Hartford Juvenile Residential Center Summer Enrichment Program Teacher</p> <p>Position Overview</p> <p>The HJRC Summer Enrichment Program Teacher will work at the Hartford Juvenile Residential Center for a 6-week program aimed to help young people ages 12-17 to improve their educational, social & emotional skills. The teacher will work under the direction of the Site Director to lead classroom instruction, delivering an age-appropriate, gender- and trauma-sensitive curriculum with an intensive focus on remediation in math, reading and writing. Training and a curriculum will be provided before the program begins.</p> <p>Essential Responsibilities</p> <p>Classroom Instruction & Support</p> <ul> <li>Provide instruction in math, reading and writing following prescribed curriculum </li><li>Develop weekly lesson plans </li><li>Instruct students individually or in small groups </li><li>Use trauma-informed methodologies to help manage student behavior issues in the classroom </li><li>Follow the security and safety protocols of the Hartford Juvenile Detention Center </li><li>Determine opportunities for Intern to support and lead classroom instruction </li><li>Work with the program director to evaluate the effectiveness of the curriculum and make adjustments as necessary </li></ul> <p>NOTE: This list is a guide.
