<p>Seeking a Principal Engineer - Mechanical Process Design Engineer to provide support to our federal government client in Aiken, SC.</p> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>The Contractor will de?ne scope of technical programs and develop e?ective, quality solutions to challenges which involve unique or controversial problems. Creatively meet all company and industry requirements and apply site systems to achieve quality, timely and cost-e?ective results. Give quality guidance and assistance to less senior professionals on related tasks.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Apply technical experience in ?eld of specialization or broad-based experience in multiple technical ?elds, to resolve complex problems</p> </li><li> <p>Incorporate advanced technical practices and a variety of complex features such as complicated technical requirements, application of new or special materials or processes and di?cult coordination or oversight requirements into problem solving and program planning</p> </li><li> <p>Provide leadership in determining solutions to complex problems and be recognized as having expertise in a functional area(s) of technical expertise</p> </li><li> <p>Provide direction and position responsibility both inside and outside department lines on programs seeking new approaches to problems and new application of existing engineering or scienti?c principles</p> </li><li> <p>Evaluate the results of programs and prepares reports and recommendations based on these evaluations</p> </li><li> <p>Identify and recommend improvements where established technology components and methodology are inadequate for solution</p> </li><li> <p>Keep informed of the advancement of technology as applied through one's area of technology. Prepare plans including schedules, budgets and personnel requirements for solving technical tasks identi?ed by management</p> </li><li> <p>Develop schedules, monitor progress, monitor expenditures of budget and review quality of work performed</p> </li><li> <p>Communicate results and objectives verbally and in manuscripts form to customers colleagues and management</p> </li><li> <p>Occasionally prepare reports for external publication</p> </li><li> <p>Enhance expertise in ?eld through leadership in local technical societies</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrate creative ability through medium of patent disclosures, problem solving, engineering reports, technical papers and articles</p> </li></ul> <p>Additional Duties:</p> <p>Engineering analysis, design development and generation of design output documents including but not limited to:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Process Flow</p> </li><li> <p>Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams</p> </li><li> <p>System Descriptions</p> </li><li> <p>Mechanical Equipment Lists</p> </li><li> <p>Mechanical Equipment Sizing</p> </li><li> <p>Pipe and Valve Speci?cations</p> </li><li> <p>Failure Analysis</p> </li><li> <p>Accident Analysis</p> </li><li> <p>Finite Element Analysis</p> </li><li> <p>ASME Code Design and Evaluation</p> </li><li> <p>Pipe Stress Analysis</p> </li><li> <p>Material Handling Design</p> </li><li> <p>HVAC Design; and Vendor Document Reviews</p> </li><li> <p>Engineering services shall be provided using the client's processes and procedures</p> </li><li> <p>Programmatic guidance will be provided by the client</p> </li></ul> <p>Work Hours: Up to a 40-hour work week is scheduled. The client utilizes various work schedules including 5/8s (8 hour/day; ?ve days per week), 4/10's (10 hours/day; four days per week), and 9/80's (9 hours/day, ?ve days on week AA and four days on week BB. Work week excludes client's holidays. Each workday has 30-minute lunch. Overtime will be expected at times to meet deliverables and will be utilized at the discretion of the Manager.</p> <p>Area Security Access: Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE "Q" security clearance. An active DOE clearance is not initially required to perform assigned duties. After award, the selected candidate will be notified when to apply for a clearance based on specific work assignments.</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <p>Required:</p> <ul> <li>The candidate must demonstrate a minimum of 10 years design experience in the nuclear or process chemical industry. The candidate must demonstrate a minimum of 5 years of experience working at one or more DOE facilities. Candidate must demonstrate a minimum of 5 years of experience working in a nuclear industry/facility </li><li>Must demonstrate experience creating and revising documentation in one or more of the following areas: Process Flow; Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams; System Descriptions; Mechanical Equipment Lists; Mechanical Equipment Sizing; Pipe and Valve Speci?cations; Failure Analysis; Accident Analysis; Finite Element Analysis; ASME Code Design and Evaluation; Pipe Stress Analysis; Material Handling Design; Fire Protection Design; HVAC Design; and Vendor Document Reviews </li><li>Candidate must be able to perform weekly ?eld walk downs of the job site for the engineering work being performed. These walk downs may involve construction sites with uneven surfaces and work in progress, walking for distances of over half a mile, climbing of ladders to access remote areas, and dressing out in protective clothing. </li><li>Must be capable of obtaining and maintaining a DOE "Q" security clearance </li></ul> <p>Education:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Ph.D. degree in applicable science or engineering discipline and 5+ years' experience OR</p> </li><li> <p>A MS with 8+ years' experience OR</p> </li><li> <p>A BS with 10+ years' experience or more</p> </li><li> <p>BS Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering OR</p> </li><li> <p>Current registration as a Professional Engineer in Mechanical OR Chemical Engineering</p> </li></ul> <p>Preferred:</p> <ul> <li>Possession of an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years </li><li>Previous SRS Design Engineering experience and working knowledge of client's design processes and procedures </li></ul> <p>NOTE: US Citizenship is required to perform this government contract job.</p> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>OUTSOURCE Consulting Services, Inc.
