The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.</p> <p>Role Description</p> <p>As an IRRBB Associate you will be responsible for managing and reporting interest rate risk within the banking book. This role involves analyzing and monitoring risk metrics, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and supporting the development of risk management strategies.</p> <p>Role Objectives: Delivery</p> <ul> <li>Risk Analysis and Reporting: Conduct detailed analysis of interest rate risk metrics and prepare internal and regulatory reports. </li><li>Compliance: Ensure adherence to governance and control standards, and compliance with regulatory requirements. </li><li>Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with Treasury, Finance, Risk, and Technology teams to deliver accurate and timely reports. </li><li>Data Management: Maintain data quality and manage the delivery of reports within given timeframes </li><li>Strategy Development: Contribute to the development and implementation of strategies for managing interest rate risk. </li><li>Process Improvement: Identify and implement improvements in risk management processes and reporting systems. </li></ul> <p>Role Objectives: Interpersonal</p> <ul> <li>Effective Communication: Clearly communicate complex risk concepts to stakeholders across various departments. </li><li>Team Collaboration: Foster a collaborative environment within the team and with other departments. </li><li>Problem-Solving: Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address risk management challenges. </li><li>Adaptability: Show flexibility in adapting to changing regulatory requirements and market conditions. </li><li>Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications and Skills</p> <ul> <li>Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in finance, Economics, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., CFA, FRM) are advantageous. </li><li>Experience: Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in risk management, with specific experience in IRRBB preferred. </li><li>Technical Skills: Proficiency in risk management tools and software (e.g., Python, Excel, SQL, Bloomberg, PowerBI). Knowledge of balance sheet management systems like Moody's, Oracle, or QRM is beneficial. </li><li>Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and develop actionable insights. </li><li>Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. </li><li>Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work effectively in a team and engage with stakeholders at all levels. </li></ul> <p>Additional Requirements</p> <p>SMBC's employees participate in a Hybrid workforce model that provides employees with an opportunity to work from home, as well as, from an SMBC office.
