<p>Executive Director for Student Success and Career Outcomes, Assistant Administrator</p> <p>POSITION DETAILS</p> <p>The Executive Director for Student Success and Career Outcomes will provide visionary leadership and strategic oversight for programs that integrate academic learning with experiential opportunities for students to foster personal and professional growth. Reporting to the Associate Provost for Innovation and Student Success, this role is dedicated to empowering our diverse student population, including transfer, first-generation, international, and underrepresented students. The Executive Director will develop innovative programs and secure external funding, to enhance students' social mobility through supporting curricular and co-curricular career readiness leading to job placement and better career outcomes for Queens College graduates.</p> <p>Overseeing Experiential Education, the Center for Career Engagement and Internships, and Pre-Professional Initiatives, the Executive Director will provide tailored support for students pursuing professional pathways. This includes developing and implementing a campus wide career outcomes plan that aligns with the Queens College and the CUNY strategic plans. Additionally, the Executive Director will manage staffing and budgets, to ensure effective plan implementation. The role leverages data-informed decision-making to optimize strategies and improve student career outcomes. The Executive Director also plays a critical role in leading the oversight of institutional-level grants, such as Title III and Title V programs. The Executive Director will have access to ongoing professional development, including leadership training, grant management seminars, and opportunities to engage in system-wide initiatives and conferences within CUNY and beyond.</p> <p>Consistent with the mission of the Queens College Student Success Team, this role is committed to fostering an inclusive and equitable environment where all students can thrive academically, personally, and professionally, in alignment with the guiding principles of CUNY's mission to provide a high-quality, accessible education that serves the public good.</p> <p>CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION</p> <p>Queens College is part of CUNY, the City University of New York, the nation's leading urban public university. The Queens College community is proud of our friendly, professional, and can-do workplace culture.</p> <p>Specific duties include, but are not limited to:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Apply data informed decision-making to create a comprehensive career readiness framework that integrates academic coursework, experiential learning, and co-curricular activities. This includes partnering with faculty to embed career milestones and professional competencies into curricula in alignment with workforce trends.</p> </li><li> <p>Foster collaboration across the Center for Career Engagement and Internships, Experiential Education, Pre-Professional Advising, and Student Affairs to deliver cohesive, cross-functional career development and experiential learning opportunities.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate with academic deans and departments to integrate career preparation into academic programs, ensuring alignment with labor market demands and supporting faculty in embedding career readiness into the curriculum.</p> </li><li> <p>Build strong employer relations and alumni partnerships to expand access to internships, mentoring, and employment opportunities. This includes establishing advisory councils to ensure programs remain responsive to evolving industry needs.</p> </li><li> <p>Represent career-related initiatives in institutional strategic planning processes, highlighting their impact on student retention, graduation, and post-graduation outcomes. Actively engage with the Queens College Foundation to identify and pursue funding opportunities that support these efforts.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide strategic leadership in the development, coordination, and oversight of external funding efforts, foundation support and donor contributions, to advance career services, experiential learning, and student career outcomes.</p> </li><li> <p>Develop and maintain systems for collecting, reporting, and analyzing graduate outcomes-including employment rates, graduate school placements, and career progression-to drive continuous program improvement, support institutional planning, and inform data-driven decision-making.</p> </li><li> <p>Design and implement programs that promote lifelong career development and adaptability for both students and alumni, including workshops, job boards, mentoring programs, and networking events.</p> </li><li> <p>Represent Queens College in CUNY-wide student success and career initiatives, contributing to system-level planning, policy development, and best practice sharing.</p> </li><li> <p>Additional duties as assigned.</p> </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>This position is in CUNY's Executive Compensation Plan. All executive positions require a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>The ideal candidate will possess an MBA, doctorate (EdD, PhD) or equivalent. Candidates should have 8-10 years of progressive leadership experience in student success, career services, experiential learning, academic affairs or related work. Experience managing cross-departmental collaborations involving career services, advising, and experiential education is essential. Additionally, the candidate must have experience working with diverse student populations, including first-generation, transfer, international, and underrepresented students. Strong skills in strategic planning, data-informed decision-making, budget management, and experience and familiarity with the grant acquisition process, management, or oversight are required. The candidate should demonstrate the ability to align grant-funded initiatives with institutional goals to enhance student success and institutional capacity.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <p>Preferred qualifications include experience at the director level or higher within student affairs, career services, or a related field (including private sector/industry experience), with a demonstrated ability to develop and oversee large-scale initiatives that improve retention, graduation, and career outcomes. The ideal candidate will bring a strong record of assessing outcomes and using data to inform continuous improvement and strategic decision-making. Experience with grant writing and management to support student programs and initiatives, as well as experience cultivating support from foundations and donors is beneficial. Candidates should also have supervisory experience managing professional staff and operational units, along with demonstrated success in building strong employer and alumni partnerships. Familiarity with national best practices for student retention, experiential learning, and career readiness (such as those outlined by NACE or AAC&U) is strongly preferred. Knowledge of workforce development trends and the ability to build strong employer and alumni partnerships are highly desirable.</p> <p>CUNY TITLE</p> <p>Assistant Administrator</p> <p>COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS</p> <p>$145,000 - $163,000</p> <p>Salary commensurate with education and experience.</p> <p>CUNY's benefits contribute significantly to total compensation, supporting health and wellness, financial well-being, and professional development.
