<p>Senior Product Line Manager</p> <p>Want to work and play in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains? We are seeking passionate, driven, curious people who not only love the outdoors but strive to bring the same passion and curiosity into their work with them every day.</p> <p>Our Brands:</p> <p>Therm-a-Rest, MSR, Platypus, SealLine, PackTowl, VariLite</p> <p>We are currently seeking a Senior Product Line Manager</p> <p>As a member of the Product Development Team this role will lead the vision, strategy, and execution across a diverse portfolio of outdoor and military product categories. This pivotal role is responsible for building and optimizing product lines that drive product innovation, business growth, and consumer value. This individual will lead a cross functional team, driving product roadmaps from ideation to commercialization, ensuring alignment with strategic and financial goals.</p> <p>Integrating rigorous product development and project management strategies with unwavering adherence to industry and military standards, this role expertly balances domestic manufacturing with global sourcing. By leveraging cross-functional collaboration and deep commercial insight, the Senior Product Line Manager delivers cutting-edge, profitable solutions that address the evolving operational needs of outdoor adventurists and military personnel in challenging, diverse environments.</p> <p>The ideal person should have 8 - 10 years of experience in product management or category leadership experience in outdoor, sporting goods, or consumer durable goods.</p> <p>To be effective in this role this individual must have proven success in developing and launching innovative product lines across globale markets. They will be a strong strategic thinker with good data literacy and P&L ownership.</p> <p>This role is based out of our US Headquarters in Reno, NV. Nesseled at the base of the Sierra Nevada Mountains.</p> <p>Position duties / responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Category Strategy & Leadership</p> </li><li> <p>Ownership of the global category strategy across assigned brands / product lines, ensuring it aligns with company objectives and brand identity.</p> </li><li> <p>Convert consumer insights and market analysis into long-term strategic roadmaps and seasonal product briefs</p> </li><li> <p>Identify growth opportunities through innovation, optimization, market expansion, and consumer segmentation</p> </li><li> <p>Consumer & Market Analysis</p> </li><li> <p>Conduct qualitative and quantitative research to deeply understand end-user needs and behaviors</p> </li><li> <p>Monitor competitor landscape, emerging trends, technological advancements, and industry dynamics to inform category decisions</p> </li><li> <p>Master a global mindset by understanding regional differences and factoring this into the global product assortment.</p> </li><li> <p>Product Lifecycle Management</p> </li><li> <p>Oversee product lifecycle from concept to end-of-life, balancing innovation with operational efficiency</p> </li><li> <p>Strategically manage product introductions, phase-outs, and end-of-life processes, with an emphasis on cross functional transparency.</p> </li><li> <p>Drive line architecture, SKU optimization, pricing strategy, and profitability</p> </li><li> <p>Deep emphasis on financial targets for new product introductions, including any necessary capital expenditures</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate on unique projects such as military contracts and special customizations for retail partners.</p> </li><li> <p>Manage seasonal line lists and product creation timeline, leveraging product & project management tools</p> </li><li> <p>Stage-Gate Presentations & Business Case Development</p> </li><li> <p>Develop robust business cases, perform financial analyses, and compile comprehensive cross-functional documentation.</p> </li><li> <p>Represent the project team during leadership reviews and stage-gate meetings to secure critical approvals.</p> </li><li> <p>Cross-Functional Collaboration</p> </li><li> <p>Partner with Design, Engineering, Operations, Sales, and Marketing to execute category strategy and deliver successful product launches</p> </li><li> <p>Champion the consumer's voice throughout the product development process, establishing viability and performance benchmarks for competitive differentiation.</p> </li><li> <p>Drive risk analysis documentation by partnering with cross-functional teams on regional certification and regulatory compliance requirements</p> </li><li> <p>Influence demand planning, inventory management, and global channel strategy to maximize revenue and minimize risk</p> </li><li> <p>Partner closely with Marketing to define optimal product positioning, naming, packaging, and collateral</p> </li><li> <p>Drive sell-in initiatives by supporting Sales & Marketing teams at sales meetings, tradeshows, key account meetings, and consumer events</p> </li><li> <p>Team Leadership & Development</p> </li><li> <p>Mentor and develop a high-performing team of Product Line Managers</p> </li><li> <p>Foster a culture of curiosity, accountability, and excellence within the Product Management organization.</p> </li><li> <p>Lead product training sessions for internal and external representatives, enhancing product knowledge for our consumers</p> </li><li> <p>Partner closely with Marketing to define optimal product positioning, naming, packaging, and collateral.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure technical accuracy and consistent brand messaging across all marketing assets and product sales samples.</p> </li><li> <p>Quality Assurance & Regulatory Compliance</p> </li><li> <p>Implement rigorous quality assurance measures throughout product development and monitor quality control reports.</p> </li><li> <p>Resolve quality issues through root cause analysis and coordinated remediation, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and standards.</p> </li><li> <p>Stay abreast of regulatory changes and manage licenses, permits, and representation on relevant industry boards (e.g., ASTM, CSA, EN/CE).</p> </li></ul> <p>Candidate requirements:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Required:</p> </li><li> <p>8+ years of product management or category leadership experience in outdoor, sporting goods, or consumer durable goods.</p> </li><li> <p>Bachelor's degree</p> </li><li> <p>Proven success in developing and launching innovative product lines across global markets</p> </li><li> <p>Strong strategic thinking, data literacy, and P&L ownership</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated leadership of cross-functional teams and direct reports</p> </li><li> <p>Excellent communication, storytelling, and presentation skills</p> </li><li> <p>Strong problem-solving skills and the capacity to navigate complex technical challenges.</p> </li><li> <p>Preferred:</p> </li><li> <p>Experience in lean manufacturing environments and/or U.S.-based production</p> </li><li> <p>Background in technical or performance gear categories</p> </li><li>
