<p>We are seeking a Laboratory Aide - Summer that carries out experiments under close supervision of a faculty investigator, senior technician, or postdoctoral fellow in a laboratory. Follows routine protocols under close supervision.</p> <p>Specific Duties and Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Use basic science knowledge to learn techniques and methods of the lab. </li><li>Perform laboratory tests and/or experiments following established procedures or protocols. </li><li>Operate laboratory equipment and instruments. </li><li>Develop a basic tracking database/spreadsheet based on study requirements utilizing Excel, Access, or similar software applications. </li><li>Maintain accurate and detailed records, present data summaries, identify and resolve common problems, and use basic analytical skills to implement assigned projects. </li><li>Use basic laboratory skills: processing, storing, labeling, and identifying study samples. </li><li>Maintain and make minor adjustments to equipment. </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Currently pursuing a high school diploma with some science coursework. </li><li>Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula. </li></ul> <p>Classified Title: Laboratory Aide</p> <p>Job Posting Title (Working Title): Laboratory Aide - Summer (Institute for Computational Medicine)</p> <p>Role/Level/Range: ACRO37.5/01/CA</p> <p>Starting Salary Range: $15.00 - $20.25 HRLY (Commensurate w/exp.)</p> <p>Employee group: Casual / On Call</p> <p>Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm</p> <p>FLSA Status: Non-Exempt</p> <p>Location: Homewood Campus</p> <p>Department name: Institute for Computational Medicine</p> <p>Personnel area: Whiting School of Engineering</p>
