<p>POSITION SUMMARY:</p> <p>This advanced professional position provides direct therapeutic services to identified mental health and substance abuse clients. The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining patient care in accordance with program guidelines and external standards (Joint Commission, Medicaid, etc.). The counselor will provide clinical services to the following populace: individual, family, and group therapy to adults.</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>The Substance Abuse Specialist must be an LMHC, LCSW, or LMFT. A registered intern must be certified as a Certified Addiction Specialist and have two years working with individuals with Co-occurring mental illness and substance use disorders. Registered Interns must obtain CAP certification within 1 year of employment. For traveling purposes, it is required that the Substance Abuse Specialist be 21 years of age or older, and have a valid Florida driver's license, car insurance, and reliable transportation.</p> <p>FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:</p> <ul> <li>Substance use assessments that consider the relationship between substance use and mental health, </li><li>Assessment and tracking of participants' stages of change readiness and stages of treatment, </li><li>Outreach and motivational interviewing techniques, </li><li>Cognitive behavioral approaches and relapse prevention, and </li><li>Treatment approaches that are consistent with the participant's stage of change readiness. </li><li>Will assist with caseload and may assist with transportation when needed.
