Research Grant or Time-limited positions may be eligible for all, some, or no benefits, based on the grant or project funding.</p> <p>Position Description</p> <p>Advertised Job Summary</p> <p>The Communications Coordinator will be a key member of the Communications department and will support the Director of Communications in content creation and in developing, establishing, and maintaining strategies for keeping all School of Law audiences (prospective students, current students, alumni, faculty, and staff) involved and knowledgeable about people, programs and events at the School of Law.</p> <p>Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience</p> <ul> <li>Requires a bachelor's degree in a job related field and 2 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience. </li></ul> <p>Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Bachelors degree in journalism, communications, or similar program, with 3-5 years of work experience. </li><li>Intermediate knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud products, especially Illustrator, Lightroom, Spark, 25Live calendaring, OmniUpdate, Wordpress, email marketing programs, and basic knowledge of HTML and CSS. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge/Skills/Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Advanced knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Premiere. </li><li>Exceptional writing and communication skills, including ability to tell a compelling story, with a command of grammar and AP style. </li><li>Excellent interpersonal and speaking skills, both in person and by phone, with a high level of professionalism. </li><li>Advanced knowledge of social media, including best practices for engaging audiences in a professional context on each platform. </li><li>Ability to maintain/monitor social media accounts outside of normal business hours. </li><li>Creative thinker with excellent design skills and the ability to create attention-grabbing graphics for web and print. </li><li>Skilled photographer who knows how to frame a shot to tell a story using a digital SLR camera. </li><li>Skilled videographer with the ability to tell a compelling story using a digital SLR camera, recording and lighting equipment, and non-linear editing software. </li><li>Detail-oriented, especially with regard to accuracy and proofreading. </li><li>Strategic thinker who is able to work collaboratively and be eager to learn new skills and open to new ideas. </li><li>Ability to manage multiple projects and work assignments, while consistently meeting deadlines. </li><li>Self-starter with the ability to accomplish projects with little supervision. </li><li>Ability to take direction well and be open to constructive criticism. </li></ul> <p>Job Duties</p> <p>Job Duty</p> <p>Manages social media efforts for the School of Law, including FB, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube and any others that may arise. This includes creating and coordinating interesting and compelling content (text, video and/or graphics); as well as developing contests, take-overs and other creative ways to actively engage audiences and promote academic units, School of Law programs, faculty, students, and events.</p> <p>Works with Dir. of Communications to develop a content strategy plan and consistent timeline for posting to the law school's social media accounts. Plan must take into consideration best SM practices and various audience needs for each account.</p> <p>Creates/maintains consistent "voice" for each channel.</p> <p>Responds in timely fashion to questions/comments received via SM with accurate information and in professional manner.</p> <p>Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 25 Job Duty</p> <p>Works with Dir. of Communications to create and implement strategy for promotion of events (timing, channels, materials, etc.).</p> <p>Works with Events Coordinator and individual academic units to ensure coordinated promotion of assigned events, including proactively reaching out to faculty, students, and staff to learn more about events and explore best ways to promote them.</p> <p>Keeps up with a published calendar of School of Law events, including cross-posting/promotion on lobby monitors, social media, homepage calendar, university calendar, blog, etc.</p> <p>Creates attractive, professional-looking graphics that can be used on various platforms to assist in promotion of events.
