<p>The City of Ankeny has a need for individuals who are interested in helping maintain the 124-acre sports complex fields and grounds.</p> <p>Maintenance laborer - $18.00/hour; No benefits.</p> <p>Hours: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday</p> <p>Position begins August 18, 2025 and ends November 30, 2025. Applications accepted until filled.</p> <ul> <li>Field Maintenance: Aeration, fertilization, sodding, seeding, construction and irrigation repair. Painting and chalking fields.  </li><li>Mowing soccer, baseball, softball, and football fields. </li><li>Setting up fields for tournaments. </li><li>Working softball and baseball tournaments. </li><li>Event clean-up, changing garbage cans, and cleaning bathrooms. </li><li>Possess and maintain a valid Iowa driver's license. </li><li>Pass pre-employment drug screen and background check. </li></ul> <p>WORK ENVIRONMENT:</p> <ul> <li>Works in field environment </li><li>Periodically requires weekend, holiday and evening hours. </li><li>Performs outside work in all kinds of weather conditions. </li><li>Operates equipment having varying degrees of noise and vibration. </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:</p> <ul> <li>Must be insurable. </li><li>Must be sighted. </li><li>Must be able to hear normal conversation. </li><li>Must be able to speak clearly at normal rate of conversation. </li><li>Must be able to kneel, squat, stoop, walk and climb stairs. </li><li>Must be able to work in wet or dry trenches. </li><li>Must be able to move up and down ladders and walk over uneven terrain. </li><li>Must be able to lift heavy objects weighing up to 75 pounds and carries for short distances. </li><li>Must keep regular and reliable attendance at work. </li></ul>
