<p>YOU MUST BE A CURRENT METRO GOVT PUBLIC WORKS EMPLOYEE TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION</p> <p>Supervises multiple work crews involved in road construction, road maintenance, property maintenance, right-of-way signs and markings, snow removal and other public works projects</p> <p>Investigates complaints from the public regarding public works projects</p> <p>Coordinates projects, enforces safe work practices and oversees field review of public works projects</p> <p>Exercises supervision over subordinate personnelExamples of Work:</p> <p>UNDER GENERAL SUPERVISION</p> <p>Interprets, explains and enforces regulations, policies and procedures and renders decisions</p> <p>Enforces safety procedures to ensure safe operation of equipment and employee safety</p> <p>Attends meetings, provides information, and answers questions concerning public works operations and projects</p> <p>Plans, develops, organizes and evaluates public road construction, road maintenance, property maintenance and signs and markings programs for compliance to standards and regulations and recommends modifications and improvements</p> <p>Supervises, assigns work tasks and reviews completed road construction, road maintenance, property maintenance and signs and markings work assignments</p> <p>Prepares and submits bid specifications and bid requests and submits recommendations concerning the procurement of road construction, road maintenance, property maintenance and signs and markings materials and equipment</p> <p>Provides technical assistance and instruction concerning the operation and use of signs and markings, and light and heavy construction equipment and materials</p> <p>Consults with subordinates and managers to discuss problems, procedures and work assignment progress</p> <p>Delegates work and responsibilities to subordinates to achieve objectives and goals</p> <p>Coordinates road construction, road maintenance, property maintenance and signs and markings projects and activities with other departmental personnel and contractors</p> <p>Assists with budget preparation and prepares reports</p> <p>Performs related work </p> <p>Physical Requirement & Working Conditions:</p> <p>Meets regular and punctual attendance standards and any special needs of the position as determined by management, including mandatory overtime and performing related work</p> <p>Spends prolonged periods of time sitting, standing, walking, carrying, stooping and climbing</p> <p>Lifts and carries items weighing up to 100 pounds in a team setting</p> <p>Must work a varied schedule</p> <p>Spends prolonged periods of time exposed to the elements</p> <p>Inspects and observes work areas Minimum Requirements:</p> <p>Associate's degree</p> <p>Business Administration</p> <p>Construction Technology</p> <p>Engineering</p> <p>Engineering Technology</p> <p>Public Administration</p> <p>Related field</p> <p>Two years of supervisory or lead road construction, road maintenance, drainage maintenance, property maintenance experience</p> <p>Other Minimums:</p> <p>Must wear safety equipment as mandated by OSHA</p> <p>Must provide one's own source of transportation</p> <p>Must be on 24 hour call</p> <p>Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license</p> <p>Equivalency:</p> <p>An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted</p> <p>Special Requirements:</p> <p>PUBLIC WORKS - SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT</p> <p>Must attend two U of K Road Scholar and Road Master program classes per year</p> <p>KSA's:</p> <p>Ability to communicate orally and in writing</p> <p>Ability to operate a personal computer and other office equipment</p> <p>Ability to write concise and clear reports</p> <p>PUBLIC WORKS  - SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT</p> <p>Ability to communicate orally and in writing</p> <p>Ability to operate a personal computer and other office equipment</p> <p>Ability to write concise and clear reports</p> <p>Ability to shoot grade with level instrument and figure grade for positive drainage </p> <p>EOE</p>
