<p>JOB DESCRIPTION: Head Athletic Trainer</p> <p>DATE: June 1, 2025</p> <p>DEPARTMENT: Division of Athletics</p> <p>REPORTS TO: Vice President/Director of Athletics</p> <p>JOB SUMMARY:</p> <p>This is a full-time, 10-month exempt position. This position accepts responsibility for leading the athletic training program at Nichols College. This includes structure as well as organization and coordination of athletic training services for all collegiate athletic activities. Benefit package included.</p> <p>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EDUCATION REQUIRED:</p> <ul> <li>A master's degree in athletic training or a closely related field and 1-2 years of athletic training experience, preferably in a college/university setting, is preferred, but not required </li><li>Additional training in the allied health profession is desired </li><li>NATABOC certification and a Massachusetts State License in Athletic Training are required </li><li>Additional preferred certifications include CPR/AED and First Aid instructor </li><li>Genuine understanding and commitment of NCAA Division III intercollegiate athletics philosophy </li><li>Leadership abilities and proven abilities to work independently, prioritize tasks, and complete assignments in a timely manner </li><li>Excellent interpersonal communication skills and strong written communication skills </li><li>Excellent organizational skills with accuracy and attention to detail </li><li>Computer proficiency </li><li>Valid driver's license </li></ul> <p>Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Responsibilities include but are not limited to, all aspects of sports medicine, planning, budgeting, directing, supervision and medical coverage of all varsity and club sport programs' practices and games, developing and managing the athletic training room along with therapeutic modalities, acute injury care - prevention of, respond to, evaluation of injuries, monitor rehabilitation progress of student-athletes, etc. </li><li>Ensure compliance with NCAA regulations and NATABOC standards and guidelines </li><li>Maintain NATABOC certification/ licensure with Massachusetts </li><li>Maintain open communication with the college nurse and the doctor/ Public Safety/ town medical personnel/ UMass Memorial Medical Group </li><li>Coordinate contest and practice coverage, and where necessary </li><li>Coordinate sport physicals/ medical insurance documentation/ roster follow-through on student clearance </li><li>Understand and implement the college's concussion protocol and Impact Testing. </li><li>Budget, purchase, maintain, and inventory medical equipment and supplies </li><li>Provide and coordinate sport-specific strength, conditioning, and rehabilitation programs to coaches and student-athletes, and monitor progression through various stage,s implementing protocol changes/working in conjunction with strength & conditioning staff members </li><li>Maintain treatment documentation and records/ coordinate medical insurance claims </li><li>Develop and implement the use of an Athletic Training Staff manual, including policies and procedures </li><li>Plan, direct, advise, and evaluate Emergency Action Plans (including lightning, col,d and heat policies) </li><li>Meet seasonally with coaches to review all Emergency Action Plans and practice/ contest coverage </li><li>Maintain certification for CPR/ AED and First Aid/ maintain records for and certification of athletic department staff in CPR/ AED and First Aid/and coordinate re-certification of athletic department staff </li><li>Maintain Athletics Department AED equipment </li><li>Attend department staff meetings/ institutional functions/ regional and national NATA seminars and conventions </li><li>College Committee or task force involvement/ departmental programming and special events </li><li>Available for emergency response </li><li>Accept all duties and responsibilities as deemed necessary by the A.D., the administrative staff, andthe athletics department </li><li>Report any misconduct occurrences to AD immediately </li></ul> <p>Physical Job Components:</p> <p>Light to moderate lifting</p> <p>Able to communicate orally, in writing, and use office and telecommunication equipment</p> <p>Ability to work business and extended hours, including evenings and weekends</p> <p>Valid driver's license</p> <p>Traveling is expected</p>
