We're building 100% electric boats from the ground up - quicker, quieter, easier to maintain, and better for the water they ride on. We're not just swapping gas for batteries. You'll thrive here if you adapt quickly, take ownership, and care about the details.</p> <p>This is a full-time, on-site role at our Los Angeles headquarters. You'll work closely with a lean, high-trust team where everyone's work matters.</p> <p>Core responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Architecting mechanical, thermal, and fluid systems on the vehicle </li><li>Owning hardware from start to finish, including specifications, design, prototyping, testing, and high-volume manufacturing </li><li>Using a combination of hand calculations, hands on prototyping, and CAD to engineer parts </li><li>Getting hands on with building and testing </li><li>Interfacing with suppliers and contractors </li><li>Supporting the design of next generation products </li></ul> <p>Basic qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Experience with CAD software packages </li><li>Hands on project experience </li><li>Excellent grasp of the fundamentals of Mechanical, Thermal, and Fluids Engineering </li></ul> <p>Bonus qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Familiarity with high performance electric vehicles, solar cars, Formula SAE, or similar </li><li>Knowledge of modeling software such as Matlab and Simulink </li><li>Firsthand experience owning or using water sports boats </li><li>Exposure to sheet metal manufacturing, CNC machining, CAM, and shop tools </li><li>Prior experience in a fast-paced manufacturing setting </li><li>Clear written and verbal communication </li><li>Ability to articulate and defend engineering decisions </li><li>Strong time management skills </li><li>Comfortable working 50-55 hours a week </li><li>Experience with fluid system designs including pump sizing, fluid dynamics, and NX routings </li></ul> <p>At Arc, we encourage diversity and consider all qualified applicants equally for employment, regardless of background, identity, or status.
