<p>Position: Special Education Summer Success Teacher</p> <p>Position Type: Part-time, Hourly</p> <p>Department: Extended School Year - Summer 2026</p> <p>Location: Hosmer Elementary School/WMS</p> <p>Reports to: ESY Coordinators, Student Services Directors, and Assistant Director</p> <p>Salary range: $42.00/hour: Teachers, $34.00/hour: Unlicensed Teacher</p> <p>Shift: 8:00 AM-12:00 PM, Monday-Thursday</p> <p>Dates: July 6- August 6th, 2026</p> <p>General Description:</p> <p>The Extended School Year (ESY) offers specialized instruction and related services to students beyond the regular school year. The position involves leading program activities, supervising instruction, and ensuring IEP goals and accommodations are met through the Summer Success Program. Responsibilities include managing staff, addressing parent and behavioral concerns, monitoring student progress, and collaborating with administrators to align the program with district goals. In your letter of interest, please indicate which level/program you prefer.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Teach groupings of special education students in grades K-12 </li><li>Conduct whole group and/or small group literacy lessons </li><li>Conduct whole groups and/or small group Math lessons </li><li>Follow related IEP Goals and Accommodations </li><li>Teach age-related social skills and functional behavior </li><li>Teaching is focused on the prevention of skill regression </li><li>Progress monitoring and reporting </li></ul> <p>Qualifications Required:</p> <ul> <li>Experience working with elementary and/or Secondary preferred </li><li>Experience collaborating with colleagues </li><li>Experience reading IEPs </li><li>Familiarity with best practices in literacy and math instruction </li><li>Holds the belief that all children can learn </li><li>Classroom management </li><li>An ability to engage students in using all 4 domains: listening, reading, speaking, and writing </li><li>Attend pre-program training. </li></ul> <p>Preferred:</p> <ul> <li>Valid DESE licensure as Teacher of Students with Severe Disabilities or Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities preferred </li><li>Experience working with students with a range of disabilities in a public school setting preferred </li><li>CPR/First Aid Certification </li></ul> <p>Please submit your resume and letter of interest by April 1st, 2026 for priority consideration.</p> <p>Physical Demands:</p> <ul> <li>Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. </li></ul> <p>Equal Opportunity Employer</p> <p>Watertown Public Schools is committed to maintaining a work and learning environment free from discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, pregnancy, gender identity, sexual orientation, marital/civil union status, ancestry, place of birth, age, citizenship status, veteran status, political affiliation, genetic information or disability, as defined and required by state and federal laws.
