<p>Position Title: Asst Director-Center for Community & Connection</p> <p>Department: Opportunity/Empowerment/People</p> <p>Term of Assignment: Grant term</p> <p>Term End Date, If Applicable: September 30, 2029</p> <p>FLSA Status: Non-Exempt = overtime eligible</p> <p>Work Schedule: Traditionally Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with occasional evening and weekend work required.</p> <p>Salary: Targeted Salary Range: $52,160-$56,000</p> <p>Travel: 10-25%</p> <p>Brief Statement of Duties</p> <p>Brief Statement of Duties: Serve as Principal Investigator (PI) responsible for directing Michigan's King-Chávez-Parks (KCP) Student Select Support Services (4S) grant, including creating programming to satisfy the objectives of the grants' goals and ensuring grant objectives are met with quantifiable and measurable outcomes and documented according to grant requirements. Oversee the full KCP 4S grant lifecycle, including proposal development, submission, post-award implementation, and compliance with state, and institutional requirements. Manage coordination of initiatives that foster the academic, personal, and workforce success of students participating in programs supported by the (KCP) 4S grant and other state or federally funded grants. Ensure that program goals and measurable outcomes support student retention, graduation, and career success readiness consistent with workforce development priorities established by the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO). Function as Project Director for KCP 4S operations, including student staff, communications, and outreach platforms. Co-manage the OEP reception area, the free printing program, and the department email account, marketing related subscription accounts, social media accounts, and the heritage and federal holidays calendar with the Assistant Director of Opportunity, Empowerment, and People (OEP). Manage the free snack program, free beverage program, and the Center for Community and Connection's upcoming events page. Contribute to the coordination and execution of programs and events sponsored by all units within OEP. Assist the Assistant Vice President of OEP in working with unit leaders across the university and in the local community to promote an equitable and thriving climate for all at NMU.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>Required Education: Bachelor's Degree</p> <p>Discipline/Degree Area:</p> <p>Required Specialized Training/Certifications:</p> <p>Required Minimum Work Experience: Two years or equivalent work experience implementing opportunity, access, and inclusion initiatives.</p> <p>Two years or equivalent experience fostering success for students, particularly for students from academically underprepared, economically underresourced and historically underserved populations.</p> <p>Two years or equivalent demonstrated experience integrating workforce or career preparation into academic or student development programming.</p> <p>Two years or equivalent experience with grant administration, budgeting & reporting.</p> <p>Two years or equivalent work experience leading complex initiatives across multiple stakeholders.</p> <p>Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Attributes Required for Satisfactory Performance of the Position Duties:</p> <p>Exceptional budgeting skills.</p> <p>Familiarity with concepts and trends related to opportunity, access, and inclusion in the field of education.</p> <p>Demonstrated ability to coordinate initiatives designed to recruit, enroll, and foster college student success, particularly for historically underrepresented students through in-person and virtual programs.</p> <p>Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as active listening skills.</p> <p>Demonstrated ability to work as an effective team member.</p> <p>Excellent critical thinking skills, good judgment - able to effectively analyze situations, documents, and communications in order to make decisions.</p> <p>Ability to handle sensitive information and student records in a confidential manner.</p> <p>Excellent organizational skills, time management skills, and attention to detail.</p> <p>Experience creating professional marketing materials with appropriate software (e.g., Canva, Adobe) and experience with promotion via marketing platforms, such as Instagram, Facebook, Tik Tock.</p> <p>Experience with event or conference planning.</p> <p>Demonstrated strong project management skills.</p> <p>Demonstrated ability to work effectively and respectfully across diverse cultural contexts and to promote an inclusive and equitable office and campus environment.</p> <p>Additional Desirable Qualifications</p> <p>Additional Desirable Qualifications:</p> <p>Experience with managing social media accounts representing an education or business entity.</p> <p>Three years' experience or equivalent facilitating community engagement with students or youth from historically underrepresented populations.</p> <p>Demonstrated ability to design and assess mentoring, tutoring, or leadership programs that embed employability skill development.</p> <p>Experience managing university partnerships with Indigenous and urban communities.</p> <p>Ability to coordinate programs or initiatives that foster improved understanding of domestic, Indigenous, and global diversity, access, and inclusion experiences in higher education.</p> <p>Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse student populations and workforce partners.</p> <p>Participation in professional development and membership organizations focused on access, opportunity and workforce readiness issues.</p> <p>Other</p> <p>Special Instructions to Applicants: Submit application, cover letter, resume and references.</p> <p>Contact Information: Erica Jean, HR Generalist, 906-227-1087</p> <p>NMU is an equal opportunity employer.</p> <p>Apply Now!</p>
