<p>Referral Team Technician</p> <p>DoveLewis Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital | Portland, OR</p> <p>DoveLewis Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital is seeking a Certified Veterinary Technician to join our new referral team.</p> <p>The Referral Team is dedicated to creating an exceptional experience for patients, clients, and referring veterinarians by ensuring referred patients are received efficiently, historical medical information is complete, and communication is seamless throughout the referral process.</p> <p>As a Referral Team Technician, you will play a critical role in coordinating care for patients referred to DoveLewis from outside veterinary clinics. This position blends patient intake, clinical nursing support, client communication, referral coordination, and medical records management to help ensure continuity of care and a high-touch experience for both clients and veterinary partners.</p> <p>This role is ideal for a technician who enjoys both clinical patient care and relationship-based coordination, thrives in a collaborative environment, and values organization, communication, and service excellence.</p> <p>What you'll do:</p> <ul> <li>Support inpatient and ICU patient care, including medication administration, procedural assistance, vital monitoring, and patient assessments </li><li>Assist with advanced procedures and therapies, including, but not limited to, chest tube placement and management, extracorporeal therapies, high-flow oxygen therapy, and mechanical ventilation </li><li>Receive referred patients and support the intake process. </li><li>Obtain patient history, vital signs, and assist with clinical nursing support. </li><li>Carry out doctor orders and help prepare patients for continued specialty or emergency care. </li><li>Serve as a communication touch point for clients, referring veterinarians, and DoveLewis care teams. </li><li>Coordinate and collect medical records from outside clinics and clients to ensure complete patient histories are available. </li><li>Facilitate smooth handoffs between referring veterinarians and DoveLewis medical teams. </li><li>Support referral documentation, scheduling coordination, and follow-up communication. </li><li>Help provide a seamless, elevated experience for clients and referring veterinary partners. </li></ul> <p>What you can look forward to at DoveLewis:</p> <ul> <li>Utilizing your license and technical skills to their fullest potential while supporting high-quality patient care. </li><li>Working in a highly collaborative specialty and emergency teaching hospital environment. </li><li>Regular Continuing Education, including in-house CE and professional development opportunities. </li><li>Exposure to a wide variety of specialty services including Emergency & Critical Care, Neurology, Surgery, Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Oncology, Diagnostic Imaging, Exotics, and more. </li><li>The opportunity to help shape a new, highly coordinated referral experience for patients and veterinary partners. </li></ul> <p>Benefits + Compensation:</p> <ul> <li>Equitable health benefits including medical, dental, vision, and $0 mental health copays. </li><li>403(b) retirement plan with company match and access to financial advising. </li><li>Student debt repayment assistance for all employees. </li><li>Paid vacation, sick time, holiday pay, and bereavement leave (including time off for pet family members). </li><li>Continuing education support, including license reimbursement and professional dues assistance. </li><li>A meaningful opportunity to work for a mission-driven nonprofit hospital dedicated to advancing veterinary medicine and supporting pets and people. </li></ul> <p>What are we looking for in a candidate?</p> <p>Experience + Education:</p> <ul> <li>Current Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) license in Oregon required (or transferable credential such as LVT/RVT eligible for Oregon licensure). </li><li>Interest in pursuing or currently holding a VTS certification is encouraged as part of professional growth and development, but is not required. </li><li>Experience in emergency, specialty, referral, or critical care medicine preferred. </li><li>Strong interest in client communication, referral coordination, and continuity of care. </li><li>AA or BA/BS degree from an accredited veterinary technician program preferred. </li><li>Any suitable combination of education and experience may substitute. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills + Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. </li><li>Exceptional communication and customer service skills. </li><li>Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. </li><li>Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative and service-oriented approach. </li><li>Ability to remain calm, professional, and compassionate during stressful situations. </li><li>Commitment to delivering an elevated experience for both clients and referring veterinary partners. </li></ul> <p>The Pacific Northwest Advantage:</p> <p>With the ocean an hour away to the west and mountains an hour away to the east, Portland offers endless opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts and animal lovers alike.
