<p>Description</p> <p>This position is responsible for analyzing patient care data, investigating internal and external complaints, serves as the Infection Control Officer, and ensures OSHA guidelines are followed.</p> <p>Examples of Duties</p> <p>JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <p>Note: The list below is not comprehensive; this job is also responsible for other duties as assigned.</p> <p>The Quality Control Officer reports to the Training Officer and works with limited supervision.</p> <ol> <li>Quality Control - This position is responsible for conducting systematic reviews of patient care data to ensure patients are receiving quality care and overseeing compliance with approved clinical practices and patient care guidelines. The role supports ongoing clinical quality improvement efforts, and assists in creating clinical quality improvement corrective action plans. The incumbent will coordinate with and assist the Training Officer when necessary to establish group or individual training </li></ol> <p>in a more formal setting when appropriate. The incumbent will be responsible for keeping up to date with current pre-hospital standards, and trends and assists the Training Officer in projecting future global training of any new standards and trends. The incumbent will be responsible for leading the department's Quality Improvement Committee, and be the spokesperson for the committee. The incumbent will assist the Training Officer with the Patient Care Guidelines Committee. The incumbent will be responsible for all quality and reporting data; and will provide reports and recommendations in a timely manner to the Training Officer, Assistant Director and Director. The incumbent will be required to continue to obtain and maintain personal training and education in pre-hospital quality assurance/improvement knowledge and to project their knowledge of QA/QI to help strengthen the Training Program. The incumbent will be responsible for any local, state, and/or federal data reporting, to include the state Narcan and Ketamine use databases. The incumbent will be required to assist with and/or maintain the functionality of the department's patient care documentation system and make recommendations on how to fix any issues within it. The incumbent will maintain a strict and professional confidentiality of all departmental data, patient care issues, and future improvement plans used for improved business operations.</p> <ol start="2"> <li> <p>Community Interface - When necessary, this position will communicate with citizens regarding complaints about their care, and thoroughly investigate the circumstances for resolution. This may include talking with the employee and advising shift supervisors regardingplacing the employee on a performance improvement plan for training purposes. The incumbent may need to escalate any complaints that cannot be resolved amicably, and will review the call with the medical control physician when necessary. The incumbent will document, in detail all information as it pertains to each investigation, and will maintain a database to record, and monitor all patient care complaints.</p> </li><li> <p>Infectious Disease Management - This position will be responsible for all infection control management, ensuring all possible exposures are investigated with proper records maintenance, and leading investigations and actions taken. This incumbent will be responsible for obtaining and maintaining up-to-date information and education of all local, state, and federal standards, laws, and reporting requirements. This will include OSHA log maintenance, and when necessary, interface with Risk Management.</p> </li></ol> <p>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB:</p> <p>Must be able to assist with patient movement and lifting (up to 500 lbs. with assistance), lift equipment up to 100 lbs. and perform bending, stooping, and lifting as needed. Requires the ability to drive-in all-weather conditions and tolerate potential exposure to biohazardous materials and emergency environments.</p> <p>Disclaimer</p> <p>This job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work expected of this job. It is not designed to describe all duties, responsibilities and skills that may be required of employees assigned to this job.</p> <p>Typical Qualifications</p> <p>REQUIRED EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND JOB-RELATED EXPERIENCE:</p> <p>Minimum Level of Job-Related Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent job experience, SC Paramedic certification, BLS, ACLS, PALS, National Registry Paramedic. DICO-C preferred.</p> <p>Minimum Amount of Job-Related Experience: 5 years</p> <p>Minimum Level of any Required Qualifications, Licenses, Certificates, Registrations, or any Relevant Knowledge, Job Skill or Equivalent Experience: Field Paramedic, understanding of State EMS Protocols and Guidelines, Certified Infection Control Officer/Infection Control Trainer. Must obtain the DICO-C title through IBSC within one year.</p>
