<p>Drivers Education Instructor (25 - 26 SY) JobID: 7116</p> <p>Position Type:</p> <p>High School Teaching/Driver Education</p> <p>Date Posted:</p> <p>2/24/2025</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>Bristol Central High School</p> <p>Date Available:</p> <p>25 - 26 SY</p> <p>Closing Date:</p> <p>Open until filled</p> <p>&nbsp&nbspAdditional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>POSITION: Driver's Education Instructor (25-26 SY)</p> <p>LOCATION: Bristol Central High School</p> <p>SUMMARY: The Bristol Adult Education program is looking for part-time, certified, driving instructors licensed by the state of Connecticut.</p> <p>DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Maintain Driving School Instructor License throughout employment </li><li>Effectively manage student driver caseload </li><li>Follow departmental guidelines and/or guidelines set forth by the Department of Motor Vehicles </li><li>Ensure each student driver completes the required amount of classroom and on road training </li><li>Schedule and manage in car and classroom training of teens and adults as needed </li><li>Schedule and manage vehicle service/maintenance as well as accurate maintenance record keeping </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Must have an active Connecticut teaching certificate valid for grade seven or above with the driver education endorsement </li><li>Has held a Connecticut Driver's License for the past four consecutive years with an acceptable driving record </li><li>Complete a medical examination by a licensed physician who certifies that the candidate is physically fit to drive a vehicle and instruct in driving </li><li>Must authorize a fingerprint background check and the State of Connecticut Department of Children and Families background check </li><li>Must have or be able to obtain a Driving Instructor License isued by the Connecticut DMV </li></ul> <p>REQUIREMENTS, ESSENTIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Excellent leadership skills; plus the capability to work in both a team and one-on-one setting </li><li>Ability to communicate both verbally and written with professionalism to teens as well as adults </li><li>Good driving record </li><li>Classroom sessions are typically during the day, but candidates must be available to do some occasional work on the weekends and/or evening hours </li><li>Candidates must have excellent leadership and management characteristics </li><li>Ability to effectively teach in a classroom and in-car setting is a must </li><li>A self-starter who can operate with minimal direct supervision </li></ul> <p>SALARY: $40.00/hr., classroom session and behind the wheel instruction</p> <p>WORK HOURS: 2:15pm-4:15pm (10-15 hours, depending on need)</p> <p>DATE OF SERVICE: 25-26 SY</p> <p>Application: Those currently employed by the Bristol Board of Education, fill out an internal application by 4:00 p.m. on 25-26SY.</p> <p>All others fill out an online application at www.applitrack.com/Bristol/onlineapp.</p> <p>The information contained in this posting description is for compliance with the American with Disabilities Act and is not an exhaustive list of the duties performed for this position.
