<p>Job Title: System Layout Mechanical Designer</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>We are seeking a System Layout Mechanical Designer with expertise in Body Shop tooling and proficiency in AutoCAD and FactoryCAD software. This role involves developing and modifying 2D/3D layouts, coordinating with engineering teams, and ensuring compliance with safety and customer specifications. A strong understanding of BIW systems, robot guarding standards, and mechanical design principles is essential.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Design and modify system layouts using AutoCAD and FactoryCAD. </li><li>Develop kit sheets showing before and after configurations. </li><li>Coordinate with technical leaders and engineers to resolve design issues. </li><li>Ensure compliance with RIA, OSHA, NIOSH, and customer standards. </li><li>Understand and apply PFMEA, MFMEA, and safety risk assessments. </li><li>Design cable trays, headers, fencing, and operator interfaces. </li><li>Translate CAD models into AutoCAD formats (SAT, IGES, etc.). </li><li>Participate in team meetings and travel for field checks and issue resolution. </li></ul> <p>Essential Skills</p> <ul> <li>5-10 years of mechanical design experience in BIW systems. </li><li>Proficiency in AutoCAD and FactoryCAD (2020 or newer). </li><li>Knowledge of GM and Tesla standards. </li><li>Understanding of robot movement, joint stops, and zone restrictions. </li><li>Experience with Microsoft Office tools. </li></ul> <p>Additional Skills & Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Experience with Siemens NX and CATIA. </li><li>Pipe fitting and header design experience. </li><li>Understanding of mechanical design sequences and controls documentation. </li><li>Familiarity with ergonomic requirements and tooling stack-up methodology. </li><li>Ability to travel domestically and internationally (5-20%). </li></ul> <p>Work Environment</p> <p>This role offers a hybrid work environment with four days in the office and one day working from home. The office is located at a design center, providing a structured yet flexible schedule.
