<p>Job Title: Distribution DesignerJob Description</p> <p>We are seeking a Distribution Designer to join our newly established office in Southfield. As one of the first hires for this location, you will play a critical role in developing design and construction work packages for electrical overhead and underground distribution systems for electric utility customers. This position offers significant flexibility for experienced individuals, with potential for future adaptability in work hours and production. While the role is based in the office full-time, there may be opportunities for fieldwork in Southeast Detroit.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Independently develop design and construction work packages for electrical overhead and underground distribution systems. </li><li>Review work provided by clients and assess the requirements of scopes. </li><li>Perform engineering calculations including structural analysis for wood pole loading, guying calculations, and specifying conductor sags and tensions. </li><li>Provide engineering support during construction, ensuring compliance with engineering and construction standards. </li><li>Conduct root cause analysis of outages and mitigation using engineering principles and design. </li><li>Coordinate conflicting utilities and field engineering design requirements in urban environments. </li><li>Develop work permits, easements, and ROW applications. </li></ul> <p>Essential Skills</p> <ul> <li>Proficiency in Solidworks or AutoCAD design software. </li><li>Basic utility knowledge. </li><li>At least an associate's degree in a design-related field. </li></ul> <p>Additional Skills & Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Experience in distribution design from a competitor is ideal. </li><li>Open to entry-level candidates with relevant experience. </li><li>Experience working with an electric utility or electric utility consulting company is beneficial. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment</p> <p>The role is based in a collaborative group environment at our Southfield office.
