If you have any questions about the application process, please contact Human Resources at 541-535-1517.</p> <p>CLOSING DATE: June 30, 2025</p> <p>This Extra-Duty position is for the 2025-26 school year.</p> <p>REPORTS TO: Principal and/or PHS Athletic Director</p> <p>JOB GOALS:</p> <p>To provide each enrolled student of middle school age an opportunity to participate in a co-curricular athletic activity that will foster physical skills, a sense of worth and competence, a knowledge and understanding of the value of sports, and the principles of fair play. This position will work in conjunction with the High School Athletic Director to ensure alignment of athletic programs with district goals and promote a cohesive K-12 athletic vision. Additionally, the Middle School Athletic Director will develop and provide opportunities for elementary school students to participate in intramural sports and after-school athletic programs.</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>Those holding a State of Oregon License preferred.</p> <p>Those who are bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.</p> <p>Physical demands needed: ability to communicate with students, co-workers, and the public; ability to communicate over the telephone; ability to respond to telephone, bells, students, co-workers, etc.; ability to respond to workplace disturbances, visual cues, requests, etc.; ability to read written materials; ability to operate office equipment; ability to carry or lift light loads (25lbs)., and occasionally climb a ladder; requires strength and agility to physically control students when necessary.</p> <p>PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <p>Organization and Planning</p> <p>Assist in the evaluation, improvement, and development of the sports program at the Middle school.</p> <p>Coordinate and organize elementary school intramural sports and athletic activities and events.</p> <p>Serve as liaison between the PE teacher at the elementary level to create an intramural program at the elementary level.</p> <p>Provide input into evaluations and counsel coaches regarding their individual and group performance as it relates to the goals of the athletic program.</p> <p>Plan, organize, and direct the implementation of all interscholastic activities.</p> <p>Arrange transportation for athletic contest participants.</p> <p>Develop and place into operation appropriate rules and regulations governing the conduct of athletic activities.</p> <p>Arrange field and gym practice schedules.</p> <p>In conjunction with head coaches, and elementary PE teachers, plan recognition programs for school athletes, and elementary school student intramural participants.</p> <p>Assume responsibility for the organization of all interscholastic sports events including field and court preparation, presence of crowd control staff, clock staff, etc.</p> <p>Management and Administration</p> <p>Prepare and submit the interscholastic sports budget and monitor the expenditure of funds.</p> <p>Develop and update policies and practices relevant and appropriate to the effective operation of a sports program.</p> <p>Provide for adequate inventories of equipment and supplies necessary for the safe operation of a sports program and for the security and accountability of that property.</p> <p>Conduct necessary coaches' meetings to keep the staff members informed.</p> <p>Maintain high standards of student conduct in all athletic events and disciplines, when necessary in accordance with the student code of conduct procedures.</p> <p>Arrange all details for visiting games.</p> <p>Provide for the physical examination of all athletes prior to the beginning of each season.</p> <p>Keep records of the results of all athletic contests and participation data organized by demographics.</p> <p>Support the district's policies, regulations, and philosophies.</p> <p>Oversee pay-to-play, insurance forms, pledge sheets, etc.</p> <p>Leadership and Staff Relationships</p> <p>Participate in the hiring and assignment of coaches and is responsible for orienting coaches as to their specific responsibilities.</p> <p>Counsel head coaches as to various instructional techniques and training rules that might be needed for the improvement of the sports program.</p> <p>Coordinate with PE teachers and principals at the elementary school level.</p> <p>Community Relationships</p> <p>Foster good school-community relationships by keeping the community aware of and responsible to the sports program.</p> <p>Establish and maintain favorable relationships with local community groups and individuals to foster understanding and support for overall sports program and school objectives.</p> <p>Student Relationships</p> <p>Offer counseling and encouragement to students to participate in sports activities.</p> <p>Act as an intermediary, when necessary, between individuals or groups of athletes and coaches.</p> <p>Clearly publicize and enforce eligibility and training rules.</p> <p>Encourage participation in intramural elementary school activities and sports.</p> <p>This position may incur occupational exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials including, but not limited to, body fluids.</p> <p>All applicants will be considered carefully.
