<p>Position: Family Liaison (SY 25-26)</p> <p>Position Type: Part-time</p> <p>Department: ELA</p> <p>Location: Watertown Public Schools</p> <p>Reports to: Director of ELE</p> <p>Affiliation: Non-Aligned</p> <p>Salary range: $30.00/Hourly</p> <p>General Description:</p> <p>The Family Liaison will play a key role in building the capacity of educators and families to collaborate around student success and connecting students and families to opportunities and resources.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Communicate with families via text, phone, and in-person </li><li>Help members of their language group bring up questions and concerns at school meetings and to teachers </li><li>Organizes family engagement events </li><li>Communicate directly with parents at teachers' and administrators' requests regarding school events, class activities, specific concerns about a student, and positive reports </li><li>When possible, attend school events with families </li><li>Systematically put together a contact list of families, and maintain contact to inform them about school events </li><li>Manages outreach to families and students at risk of chronic absenteeism </li><li>Works with the district social workers, to coordinate support for students and families improving student attendance by giving cultural insights and, when needed, talking to families </li><li>When appropriate, lead community meetings to discuss pertinent issues </li><li>Track hours spent acting as a liaison </li><li>Document the nature of activities (description of activity, mode of communication, date, follow-up when applicable) </li><li>Collects, maintains, and reports accurate data to document outcomes and impact of family engagement activities at the school level, using an electronic database. </li><li>Report on activities at meetings and via email/phone </li><li>Maintain meeting request form via google docs so families can request meetings </li><li>Liaisons will keep a Google sheet of their activities. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications Required:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree </li><li>Multilingual - Proficient verbal and written communication skills in at least the target language and English </li><li>Conflict negotiation training and experience </li><li>Experience working with diverse families and knowledge of their needs is preferred </li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills </li><li>Proficient verbal and written communication skills in the dominant home language of the families </li><li>Ability to take independent initiative, while committing to collaboration </li><li>Strong organizational skills </li><li>Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite </li><li>Ability to create and maintain strong community collaborations </li><li>Some experience in developing and/or leading interactive workshops, and training </li><li>Willingness to learn and apply new skills and content </li><li>Demonstrated cultural proficiency and ability to lead others in conversations of race and culture. </li><li>Deep knowledge and understanding of, and demonstrated ability to connect with the ethnic background of students and families served. </li><li>Fluent in English and either Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Russian, or Pushto and are familiar with the community they will serve. </li></ul> <p>Equal Opportunity Employer</p> <p>Watertown Public Schools is committed to maintaining a work and learning environment free from discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, pregnancy, gender identity, sexual orientation, marital/civil union status, ancestry, place of birth, age, citizenship status, veteran status, political affiliation, genetic information or disability, as defined and required by state and federal laws.
