The department seeks a teacher/scholar who specializes in Sports Management and serve as a Director of the Sports Management program. The Sports Management program at Rhode Island College was the first of its kind in RI at its introduction in 2023 and has experienced significant growth in program enrollments.</p> <p>Essential Duties</p> <ul> <li>Teach a range of courses in sports management, including but not limited to Introduction to Sports Management, Sports Facility & Event Management, Sports Marketing, Sports Communication, Management & Leadership in Sport Organizations, and Sports Management Finance & Fundraising. </li><li>Advise and mentor undergraduates guiding their academic progress and career development. </li><li>Build relationships within a wide range of sport Professionals to foster practicum and internship opportunities. </li><li>Participate in curriculum development, assessment, and continuous improvement of the department's programs. </li><li>Serve on department and college committees as part of faculty governance. </li><li>Engage in community outreach and professional service activities that enhance the department's role in the local sports industry. </li><li>Conduct and publish peer-reviewed research in relevant field of Sports Management </li></ul> <p>Occasional Duties</p> <p>Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Chair of the Management & Marketing Department.</p> <p>Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Good teaching skills and ability to impart knowledge to undergraduate students as well as fulfill all other job functions. </li><li>Ability to engage in scholarly and professional activities. </li><li>Ability to contribute to the curricular, assessment, and advising work of the Department and its programs. </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Ph.D. or D.B.A. in Sports Management or related field, or ABD with a credible plan to complete dissertation within 2 years. </li><li>Evidence of successful teaching experience in higher educations. </li><li>Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with faculty, students, and community stakeholders. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Experience working in a sports organization. </li><li>Expertise in one or more areas of sports management. </li><li>Experience advising and mentoring a diverse student population. </li><li>Willingness to adopt a leadership role. </li></ul> <p>Environmental Conditions</p> <p>Teaching/instruction is performed in a traditional classroom setting or online.</p>
