<p>The Dane County Department of Human Services (DCDHS) - Badger Prairie Health Care Center (BPHCC) is recruiting for a full-time (1.0 FTE) Nurse Manager.</p> <p>Hours: Noon-8pm (with some flexibility) and on-call every 4th weekend.</p> <p>The eligible list created from this recruitment may be used to fill future vacancies that occur within the next six (6) months.COMMITMENT TO EQUITY & INCLUSION</p> <p>As an employer, we strive to provide a work environment where diversity and differing opinions are valued, creativity is encouraged, continuous learning and improvement are fostered, teamwork and open/honest communication are encouraged, and meeting customer needs through quality service is a shared goal. Applicants from traditionally underrepresented populations including women and racial and ethnic minorities are especially encouraged to apply.</p> <p>DEFINITION</p> <p>Under the direction of the Director of Nursing Services (DNS), supervises daily resident clinical care and nursing staff 24 hours per day, seven (7) days a week. Such supervision is in accordance with current Federal and State health care regulations that govern facility practices, to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained. Performs other related work as required.</p> <p>EXAMPLES OF DUTIES</p> <p>Each Nurse Manager is responsible for and cross-trained in one or more of the following positions/systems: (1) Minimum Data Set (MDS) Coordinator (2) Wound Care Certified Nurse. Supervises provision of resident care by rounding on the clinical units providing leadership and guidance on the following processes: MDS, Medicare, physician rounds, staffing, care planning, rehabilitation nursing, policy interpretation, resident rights, therapeutic interactions, clinical reporting and documentation. Provides administrative and clinical support to the Director of Nursing Services. Participates in decisions to hire, promote, discipline and evaluate employees and performs other related personnel actions. Coordinates and collaborates resident services with other departments and disciplines. Adjusts staffing levels to meet resident needs. Assists with resident care program planning and evaluation including educational, policy and budget compliance components. Monitors resident admissions and transfers to ensure that correct clinical and reimbursement categorization occur. Investigates, monitors, and corrects resident right and state compliance concerns. Monitors medical record for timeliness, comprehensiveness, accuracy, and appropriateness of care and addresses learning needs. Serves as a resource and advocate for staff and residents. May act as interim Director of Nursing Services and have the ability to present educational modules for staff in-services.</p> <p>Education, Training and Experience:</p> <p>Any combination of education, training and experience equivalent to an Associate of Science Degree in Nursing (ASN) and five (5) years' experience as a Registered Nurse in long-term care and/or psychiatric nursing. OR: a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing with at least three (3) years of experience as a Registered Nurse in long-term care and/or psychiatric nursing.</p> <p>Certifications and Licenses:</p> <p>Must possess a current State of Wisconsin Registered Nurse license with no restrictions. Must also possess a current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.</p> <p>Special Requirements:</p> <p>Must have a valid driver's license, or access to reliable personal transportation, or equivalent. Must have flexibility to adjust work schedule to meet resident, staffing or facility needs. Ability to work beyond normal Monday through Friday weekday schedule and ability to work rotational shifts, including being on-call. Will be assigned evening and weekend on-call responsibilities at regular intervals. Ability to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner. No previous convictions for abuse, neglect or mistreatment of others. Free of clinically apparent communicable disease. (Refer to other special requirements noted in the 'Physical and Environmental Work Requirements' section below.)</p> <p>Background Statement: Some positions may require a criminal background check which can include fingerprinting due to the nature of the job's responsibilities. Wisconsin's Fair Employment Law, 5. 111.31 - 111.395, Wis. Stats., prohibits discrimination because of an arrest or conviction record. However, Dane County may disqualify an applicant if the position's responsibilities are substantially related to the applicant's criminal history (e.g., the nature of the crime and its relationship to the position, whether hiring, transferring, or promoting an applicant would pose an unreasonable risk to the business, its employees, customers and vendors, etc.). Management reserves the right to make employment contingent upon successful completion of the background check.</p> <p>Physical and Environmental Work Requirements:</p> <p>Works in moderately safe and comfortable conditions within a modern healthcare facility, with potential for exposures to odors, violence and noise. Potential for exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including blood borne pathogens. May be required to wear personal protective equipment, up to and including, an N95 respirator. Must be free of clinically apparent communicable disease. Ability to exert physical effort in moderate to heavy work, including lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling, and moving a minimum of 50 pounds unassisted. Ability to assist in the evacuation of residents. Ability to move intermittently throughout the workday. Must be able to respond to codes. Ability to run up one (1) flights of stairs. Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to ensure that the requirements of this position can be fully met. Ability to cope with the physical, mental and emotional stress of the position and be in good general health. Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, verbally and physical aggressive and hostile people within the facility.Comprehensive knowledge of and ability to reference, interpret and implement State and Federal Regulations in accordance with Department of Health Services (DHS)-132, the State Operations Manual (SOM) and current standards of practice. Comprehensive knowledge of general nursing theory and practice including biological, physical, social, psychiatric, pharmacologic, spiritual modalities and their application to provision of resident care. Familiarity with Medicare (including Patient Driven Payment Model - PDPM) and Medicaid regulations, Minimum Data Set (MDS) and care planning regulations. Ability to address conflicts in a calm and consistent manner. Strong team leadership and observation skills for assisting and maintaining staff competence in adherence and understanding of policies and procedures. Strong problem solving, supervisory and facilitation skills. Must function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, and the public. Must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner. Strong oral and written communication skills required.</p>
