<p>Overview</p> <p>The Director of Pediatrics and Regional Campus Solutions is a leadership role responsible for driving innovative technical solutions and providing exceptional customer service in partnership with Boston Children's Hospital (BCH) and all Dana-Farber Regional Campus partner hospitals. This position reports to the Clinical Information Systems & Epic Operations leader. With a focus on external partnerships, this position is crucial to the pediatric and regional campus programs. The Director will work closely with clinical and operational leaders to ensure the pediatric and regional campus patient populations and staff have effective technology solutions and support in a highly dynamic environment. These programs are critical to the mission of Dana-Farber to overcome the burden of cancer for our patients and families. This role will oversee major IT initiatives, manage complex client and partner relationships, and ensure the delivery of high-quality technology services through effective resource management, project management and collaboration.</p> <p>Located in Boston and the surrounding communities, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is a leader in life changing breakthroughs in cancer research and patient care. We conduct groundbreaking research that advances treatment, we educate tomorrow's physician/researchers, and we work with amazing partners, including other Harvard Medical School-affiliated hospitals.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <p>Strategic Leadership:</p> <ul> <li>Collaborate with the cross-institution/Regional Campus Pediatric leadership team to prioritize technology projects and align strategic initiatives. </li><li>Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance pediatric oncology and regional campus services through technology. </li><li>Represent the needs and priorities of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute to Boston Children's Hospital or regional campus partner hospitals. </li><li>Work with the information security officer (ISO) to ensure that the integrated solutions with BCH, other partner hospitals and vendors are effectively secured, risks mitigated and continuously monitored. </li><li>Build relationships and influence stakeholders in a highly matrixed environment, including internal and external partners, to ensure that business goals are met. </li></ul> <p>Project Management:</p> <ul> <li>Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of major IT projects, ensuring alignment with institutional goals. </li><li>Sequence projects into a cohesive portfolio, regularly reviewing and refining approaches, dependencies, and priorities. </li><li>Advocate for and align appropriate resources to support projects and initiatives, inclusive of procuring external staffing needs. </li></ul> <p>Fiscal and Service Agreement Responsibility:</p> <ul> <li>Develops IT operating and capital budget portfolios for leadership approval, seeking alternative funding for unexpected opportunities or challenges. </li><li>Collaborate with IT departments to create pediatric oncology budget supplements. </li><li>Build out IT resource needs, structure and approach with partner hospitals and actively monitor success and upholding of commitments. </li><li>Collaborate with partner institutions on operating and project budget forecasting. </li></ul> <p>Stakeholder Engagement:</p> <ul> <li>Serve as a liaison between executive leadership, clinicians, and IT departments. </li><li>Build consensus and foster collaboration across organizational levels. </li><li>Drive decision-making with leadership to set priorities and commitments. </li></ul> <p>Innovation and Problem Solving:</p> <ul> <li>Identify opportunities to improve operations and service delivery through new processes and new technologies. </li><li>Resolve complex strategic and operational challenges with innovative solutions. </li></ul> <p>SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Supervise a small to medium sized team (5 or more resources) of dedicated FTEs, in addition to contractor roles as team needs dictate. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree required, ideally in a STEM or a related field. Master's degree preferred. </li><li>10 years of relevant experience in managing information systems in a large healthcare organization required. </li><li>Prior experience planning, strategy, project management, negotiation, and organizational skills, with the demonstrated ability to drive teams on multiple concurrent projects and operational support in a complex environment preferred. </li><li>8+ years in a management position overseeing medium or large teams. </li><li>Prior experience leading and developing a multidisciplinary team, managing complex projects, and driving strategic initiatives preferred. </li></ul> <p>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to think strategically and proactively to make informed decisions about product direction based on client needs, available funding & resources, and alignment with Institute goals. </li><li>Exceptional leadership skills: strategic thinker with orientation for action and results, creative, responsive, able to plan and execute effectively. </li><li>Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively and respectfully with others and engage appropriate resources, experts, and leaders internal and external to the organization. </li><li>Strong negotiation skills with ability to influence others with different skill sets, backgrounds and levels for whom they have no formal authority. </li><li>Expert at presenting results persuasively and accurately, verbally or in writing, and in delivering both positive and challenging news. </li><li>Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively communicate with cross-functional teams including leaders and staff at all levels of the organization. </li><li>Works with a high degree of flexibility and fluidity - adaptable to changing environment and priorities with ability to manage and shift resources effectively through the changes. </li><li>Maintains a working knowledge of healthcare technology platforms, EHR systems, data management and cybersecurity and new requirements, capabilities and industry trends. </li><li>Knowledgeable of the technology development cycle: Requirements, Design, Development, Testing, Go-live planning, and execution. </li><li>Demonstrated understanding and adherence to the organization's IS change management policies and procedures; plans work, dependencies and communicates expectations to stakeholders accordingly. </li><li>Exhibits curiosity and eagerness to learn about others' work, needs and perspectives and to develop deep knowledge of client areas served. </li><li>Strong knowledge of ambulatory clinics, operational practices and internal and external dependencies. </li><li>Strong creative problem-solving and conflict management skills at all levels. </li><li>Leads a team through problem evaluation and/or opportunity assessment and facilitates appropriate and timely recommendations and/or decisions. </li><li>Effectively manages resources, time, prioritizes work, multi-tasks across operational and project demands. </li><li>Proficient in leveraging Microsoft Office applications and collaboration tools (e.g.: Outlook, Excel, OneNote, PowerPoint, Visio, Teams, Zoom). </li></ul> <p>At Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, we work every day to create an innovative, caring, and inclusive environment where every patient, family, and staff member feels they belong.
