<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Adjunct Non-Credit Phlebotomy Technician Instructors are hired as part time instructors to provide instruction for Phlebotomy Technician courses on an as needed basis and based upon sufficient course enrollment. The Phlebotomy Technician Instructor is responsible for preparing and delivering didactic and laboratory education that meets national Phlebotomy Technician certification standards. They develop and deliver course content using high quality pedagogical techniques to ensure maximum student success and learning. They also work with the Continuing Education Division team to ensure compliance with all regulatory and college administrative policies and practices.</p> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <p>The duties of the Adjunct Non-Credit Phlebotomy Technician Instructor include, but are not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrate and provide instruction in: </li><li>The role of a phlebotomist </li><li>Medical terminology </li><li>Anatomy and physiology of body systems with an emphasis on the circulatory system </li><li>Components of blood and blood collection procedure </li><li>Pre-analytical specimen processing </li><li>Specimen collection techniques </li><li>Assembling equipment and blood collection devices </li><li>Infection control </li><li>Standard/universal precautions and safety in disposal of biohazardous materials </li><li>Phlebotomy practice clerical duties </li><li>Effective customer service skills </li><li>Phlebotomy practice state requirements </li><li>Provide real-world clinical scenarios and facilitate practice of critical phlebotomy skills. </li><li>Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment in classroom and clinical lab settings following best practices and industry standards. </li><li>Supervise all students in their hands-on laboratory work ensuring best practices and safety guidelines are met. </li><li>Clearly communicate the importance of HIPAA compliance to students, integrating legal, ethical, and professional responsibilities into classroom and lab instruction. </li><li>Assess student progress and support development of academic and professional skills. </li><li>Assist students with setting academic and professional goals. </li><li>Monitor email communications from students and the college and respond in a timely manner, as appropriate. </li><li>Ensure that classes meet for the allotted time on every scheduled meeting day during the semester. </li><li>Provide timely and consistent feedback to students. </li><li>Maintain accurate student records of attendance, participation, and grades. </li><li>Meet all deadlines for grade submission to the Registrar's Office, student participation reports, and/or other administrative documentation as required. </li><li>Works collaboratively with Division staff. </li><li>Participate in required Human Resources and Information Technology Services trainings, new instructor orientations, and periodic check-in meetings with Division staff. </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>Skills/Experience/Training Required:</p> <ul> <li>Valid Phlebotomy Technician Certification (CPT) </li><li>High school diploma or GED </li><li>Minimum three (3) years of clinical experience performing Phlebotomy lab procedures in an accredited healthcare setting </li><li>Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with adult students from diverse educational and ethnic backgrounds in an instructional setting; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience </li><li>Knowledge of Phlebotomy curricula and competencies aligned with nationally recognized Phlebotomy Technician standards </li><li>Ability to adapt Phlebotomy Technician curricula to reflect State requirements, local needs, and national trends </li><li>Demonstrated teaching and educational facilitation skills </li><li>Knowledge of competency-based education principles and methods </li><li>Ability to assess student performance and progress and to provide appropriate feedback </li><li>Ability to foster critical thinking and problem-solving among students </li><li>Familiarity with learning management systems and other remote learning technology </li><li>Demonstrated ability to adapt teaching style and materials to meet the individual needs of students </li><li>Proven technological proficiency, which may include Microsoft Office 365 applications </li></ul> <p>Preferred:</p> <ul> <li>Earned associate's degree or higher in a healthcare or allied health discipline from an accredited institution </li><li>Experience integrating technology into teaching, including online and blended learning </li><li>Multilingual fluency in Spanish, French, Portuguese, French Creole, or Cape Verdean Creole </li><li>Demonstrated understanding of the community college mission and role with a focus on promoting diversity, equity and inclusion </li><li>Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills </li></ul> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>Position Status: Part-time, non-benefitted; Adjunct instructors are hired on an as needed basis each semester.</p> <p>Supervisor: Associate Dean, Community Education</p> <p>Semester: Spring and Summer 2026</p> <p>Hours: Designated weekday evenings, 5:30 pm - 9:00 pm or weekends; not to exceed 18 hours per week</p> <p>Salary: $40.00 per hour</p> <p>Worksite: Brockton, Canton, or Middleborough campuses (in-person classes only).
