<p>Primary Purpose:</p> <p>New Oaks Academy at Belmont is seeking a compassionate, reliable, and proactive Education Assistant to support lead teachers in delivering high-quality instruction within a therapeutic academic environment. In this role, you will help keep students engaged during lessons, provide individualized support as needed, and contribute to a safe and structured classroom setting.</p> <p>Our student population is diverse and includes individuals with emotional disturbances, intellectual disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and other neurodivergent needs. Education Assistants play a vital role in providing differentiated academic and behavioral support in small, relationship-based classroom settings.</p> <p>In addition to academic support, this position requires a strong foundation in behavior management. You will be expected to implement therapeutic strategies and de-escalation techniques aligned with behaviorist principles, while also maintaining hospital-mandated supervision levels throughout the school day.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li>Perform general clerical, receptionist and project-based work for the department. </li><li>May interview new students and prepare their initial Academic Plan. </li><li>Function as the school liaison. </li><li>Confer with staff members, parents, guardians, teachers, therapists and administrators regarding Academic Plan. </li><li>Meet and greet residents and visitors. </li><li>Assist the Education Director with daily functions of the department. </li><li>Demonstrate a positive, empathetic and professional attitude towards customers always. When patient needs are not met, acknowledge and work to resolve complaints.
