<p>Primary Purpose:</p> <p>New Oaks Academy at Belmont is seeking a compassionate, reliable, and proactive Education Assistant to support lead teachers in delivering high-quality instruction within a therapeutic academic environment. In this role, you will help keep students engaged during lessons, provide individualized support as needed, and contribute to a safe and structured classroom setting.</p> <p>Our student population is diverse and includes individuals with emotional disturbances, intellectual disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and other neurodivergent needs. Education Assistants play a vital role in providing differentiated academic and behavioral support in small, relationship-based classroom settings.</p> <p>In addition to academic support, this position requires a strong foundation in behavior management. You will be expected to implement therapeutic strategies and de-escalation techniques aligned with behaviorist principles, while also maintaining hospital-mandated supervision levels throughout the school day.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li>Perform general clerical, receptionist and project-based work for the department. </li><li>May interview new students and prepare their initial Academic Plan. </li><li>Function as the school liaison. </li><li>Confer with staff members, parents, guardians, teachers, therapists and administrators regarding Academic Plan. </li><li>Meet and greet residents and visitors. </li><li>Assist the Education Director with daily functions of the department. </li><li>Demonstrate a positive, empathetic and professional attitude towards customers always. When patient needs are not met, acknowledge and work to resolve complaints. Recognize that patient safety is a top priority. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma or equivalent </li><li>Some college coursework or continuing education (Associate's Degree preferred) </li><li>Minimum of one year of experience working in a classroom setting </li><li>Direct experience supporting children or adolescents with emotional and/or behavioral health needs in a school or clinical setting </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Associate's Degree or higher in education, psychology, behavior analysis, or a related field </li><li>Coursework or experience in behavior analysis, child development, or therapeutic education </li><li>Experience working in an ABA clinic or behavioral health setting </li><li>BCBA certification (preferred, not required) </li></ul> <p>Key Skills & Attributes:</p> <ul> <li>Strong interpersonal and communication skills </li><li>Passion for supporting student success and development </li><li>Ability to collaborate professionally with teachers, hospital staff, and administrators </li><li>Authentic, reflective listening and problem-solving skills </li><li>Understanding of school operations and behavioral intervention strategies </li><li>Ability to collect and use observational data to guide support and interventions </li></ul> <p>BEL01</p> <p>We are committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all applicants for employment regardless of an individual's characteristics protected by applicable state, federal and local laws.</p>
