<p>This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.</p> <p>A Staff Hospitalist / Nocturnist physician will provide general Internal medicine care of inpatient services in keeping with good clinical practice and the standards of the Hospitalist Section and Medicine Service at the Syracuse Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center and SUNY Upstate Medical University, where you will be given an academic appointment commensurate with your experience and education.</p> <p>Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Close supervision and education of internal medicine residents and medical students in all their clinical activities </li><li>Participation in educational activities related to the internal medicine residency program </li><li>Collaboration with the physician extenders and nursing care providers throughout the hospital. </li><li>Be a resource for Primary Care providers ensuring a smooth transition of patients from inpatient to outpatient settings </li><li>Provide expertise in multispecialty and patient care related discussions </li><li>As a staff physician in the Hospitalist section, you will be encouraged to participate in the development of on-going research, quality improvement and teaching as it relates to your professional interests </li><li>Provide inpatient General Internal Medicine consultation services to non-teaching and non-medicine teams, including the direct supervision and education of medical consultative house staff </li><li>Provide inpatient internal medicine attending services including clinical procedures within your specialty area of expertise on the general medicine teams, and stepdown inpatient units </li><li>Function as an active member of the Hospitalist section in the Department of Medicine of the Syracuse VA Medical Center </li><li>Maintain General internal medicine board certification and training </li><li>You will be expected to serve on Peer review, and potentially other committees as requested by the Medical Center Director, Chief of Staff, Chief of Medicine or the Specialty Service Chief </li><li>You will be expected to be in compliance with the Medical Staff bylaws and will complete all medical records timely through CPRS (Computerized Patient Record System) in accordance with VA Policies and Regulations </li><li>All attending physicians are expected to participate in ongoing process improvements within their specific areas of expertise thereby promoting quality, efficiency, patient safety, and timely access to care for our veteran patients </li><li>All hospitalists are asked to become involved in teaching internal medicine residents and undergraduate medical students (on their teams and in more formal undergraduate course teaching clinical skills and/or clinical reasoning). </li><li>Active participation at daily discharge planning meetings, daily noon report, grand rounds and Morbidity/Mortality (M&M) educational conferences for senior residents is expected for the best patient outcomes and educational experience for the residents </li><li>All physicians are actively engaged in completing quarterly chart reviews and other quality assurance work within the department </li><li>Will ensure timely record completion for all patients as outlined in the Department of Medicine </li><li>All physicians are expected to attend quarterly General Medical Staff meetings and monthly Medicine department staff meetings when they are on duty </li><li>Will participate in inter-hospital transfers of patients as needed </li></ul> <p>VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package.
