<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Title: Artistic Director for Drama Production .5 FTE</p> <p>Reports to: Wilton High School Principal</p> <p>Job Goal: Coordinate, staff and supervise the annual program of musical and dramatic theatrical</p> <p>productions at Wilton High School. Provide a balanced mixture of performance and</p> <p>technical opportunities for students with a variety of interests, skills and ability.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>High School diploma </li><li>Post-secondary training/education in related area </li><li>Three years theatrical/technical experience </li><li>Desire to work closely with high school students, develop their theater skills, and serve as a role model and professional educator </li><li>Demonstrated skills in public relations, interpersonal relations, strong word processing, leadership/decision-making and other computer capabilities </li><li>Demonstrated organizational and logistical skills in planning productions </li><li>Such additions and alternatives to above qualifications as may be appropriate and acceptable </li></ul> <p>Performance Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Oversee all aspects of the Wilton High School theater program </li><li>Plan the season of productions with input from the Production Directors and </li><li>Technical Director and the approval of the Administration </li><li>Work with Administration to secure professional staff for each show, including Director and Technical Directors </li><li>Supervise all professional staff including directors, sound technicians, lighting designers, choreographers, music directors, and technical director for four shows </li><li>Assist the school administration in determining the production calendar and performance schedule for the school year, and secure permits and building use approval as required </li><li>Be responsible for all production aspects of the shows, including publicity, ticket sales, program, and communication with parents/students for shows. Serve as liaison with community and parents of students, solicit volunteer support for drama production, and oversee script search committee with students </li><li>Assist the Senior Class, its advisor, and the Director in the selection of the annual </li><li>Senior Show; activities administrator should be consulted before selection is finalized and made public </li><li>Acquire all necessary licenses for musicals/dramas </li><li>Develop and maintain a theater section on the Wilton High School website </li><li>Determine the need for additional personnel for each of the shows (music directors, musicians, choreographers, technical assistant, costumers, etc.) and secure appropriate staff. Work with Human Resources to ensure compliance with district and state requirements </li><li>Consult with Directors to determine the rehearsal and supervision schedule for the fall and spring shows </li><li>Determine the rehearsal and supervision schedules for the Senior Show and improv shows with assistance from the senior class advisor and Drama Club Advisor </li><li>Serve as liaison to faculty production assistant (i.e., work with art and technical education teachers to develop curriculum and class activities that support drama productions.) </li><li>Prepare the budget for each production and prepare total theater program budget with administrative guidelines </li><li>Communicate regularly with students and all personnel to monitor progress of show; conduct production team meetings with these people a minimum of once every other week </li><li>Assist the technical director with inventory, maintenance and storage of costumes and sets </li><li>Coordinate the schedule for use of the Little Theatre and Auditorium with the school administration </li><li>Maintain financial records for each show - accountable for paying bills and overseeing all charges </li><li>Attend rehearsals once a week and every rehearsal two weeks before each show </li></ul> <p>Terms of Employment: 184 day position</p> <p>Evaluation: Performance of this discretionary position will be evaluated annually by the</p> <p>Superintendent of Schools</p>
