<p>Salary: $55,000 - $60,000</p> <p>I. Position Purpose</p> <p>Under direct supervision of the Dean of Natural Resources and Public Safety, the Natural</p> <p>Resources Site Operations Manager will perform the following functions: provide recreational</p> <p>site management and operational oversight, land management practices, supervise employees,</p> <p>provide a hands-on real world educational experience; provide course instructional services;</p> <p>participate in departmental activities.</p> <p>II. Program-Specific Duties and Responsibilities</p> <p>Leads collaborative operations at Lake Snowden, Robbins Crossing, nature center and</p> <p>fish hatchery, to create meaningful courses that benefit students and external</p> <p>stakeholders. Actively leads live learning labs, manages entrepreneurial endeavors and</p> <p>community involvement; create, maintain, and process materials associated with Natural</p> <p>Resource Programs and associated sites; teaches classes each semester of the year;</p> <p>and supervises employees, interns and students working in their areas.</p> <p>III. Position Duties and Responsibilities</p> <p>OVERSIGHT OF WORKERS</p> <p>o In coordination with natural resource staff and faculty, plans, schedules,</p> <p>coordinates, and monitors the work of employees, student workers and</p> <p>volunteers engaged in the care/maintenance of equipment and sites.</p> <p>o Supervises/evaluates the work of employees and student workers, effectively</p> <p>recommends personnel actions related to selection, performance review,</p> <p>scheduling and discipline; administers personnel and related</p> <p>policies/procedures.</p> <p>o Ensures all staff and students are trained in existing work methods, policies</p> <p>and procedures to ensure conformance with accepted standards. Oversees</p> <p>staff development planning for natural resource personnel.</p> <p>ADMINISTRATION, MAINTENANCE, AND SITE IMPROVEMENT</p> <p>o Routinely meets with the Dean of Natural Resources and Public Safety.</p> <p>o Establishes policies and procedures for farm operations; aids in the</p> <p>development of long-range plans/goals for site use; offers suggestions to the</p> <p>Dean and natural resource faculty directed at maximizing the</p> <p>efficiency/effectiveness of operations; assists in developing/securing funding</p> <p>sources. Utilizes cost/benefit analysis methods and techniques to evaluate</p> <p>programs and operations.</p> <p>o Assists the Dean with the development and management of the operating</p> <p>budget.</p> <p>o Responds to phone calls, e-mails, and other communication in a professional,</p> <p>timely, and courteous manner.</p> <p>PROMOTION AND PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT</p> <p>o Responsible for identifying new and expanding existing programming</p> <p>opportunities; implements an outreach strategy designed to promote Hocking</p> <p>College natural resource programs and increase revenues; maintains a</p> <p>continuous program to research/pursue new business; conducts campaigns</p> <p>and activities for the marketing/promotion of facility use; develops pricing</p> <p>strategy; conducts/analyzes market research.</p> <p>o Participates in department activities by working cooperatively with the natural</p> <p>resource staff and faculty to accomplish the goals of the department including</p> <p>but not limited to securing and maintaining program accreditation and</p> <p>certifications; share expertise and materials with other department members;</p> <p>work constructively to resolve individual and department concerns; actively</p> <p>participate in department meetings; follow department policies.</p> <p>ACADEMIC DUTIES</p> <p>o Communicate college policies and procedures to ensure they are followed.</p> <p>o Assist the Dean to manage aspects of grant funding as needed.</p> <p>o Represent the program to students, prospective students and other interested</p> <p>parties at recruiting events, on and off campus.</p> <p>o Assist the Dean to work with Career Technical Centers and traditional</p> <p>secondary schools to develop articulation agreements and CCP oversight.</p> <p>o Collaborate and provide programming for career/program exploration camps</p> <p>including summer camps.</p> <p>o Collaborate with the Dean and the marketing department to develop materials</p> <p>that promote the program (e.g., publications, web page, annual report).</p> <p>TEACHING AND ADVISING</p> <p>o Develops, maintains and delivers relevant course material to ensure student</p> <p>employability upon program completion.</p> <p>o Work with students and faculty to resolve conflicts.</p> <p>o Drive student involvement in the advising process by maintaining sufficient</p> <p>advising hours compatible with student schedules; meeting with advisees</p> <p>regularly; advising students struggling with coursework; maintaining appropriate</p> <p>advisee files; directing students to appropriate department and College</p> <p>resources; maintaining confidentiality; evaluating graduation progress and</p> <p>completions.</p> <p>o Keep track of student progress in cross disciplines and update student records.</p> <p>This requires working closely with many different offices throughout the College</p> <p>such as Admissions, Student Affairs, Financial Aid, etc.</p> <p>MANAGES LEARNING LABORATORIES AND ENTREPRENEURIAL VENTURES</p> <p>o Responsible for identifying entrepreneurial ventures that are in alignment with</p> <p>curriculum and course outcomes, including but not limited to, campground</p> <p>operations, the development of non-credit bearing courses/trainings related to</p> <p>land management practices, equipment operation and other related topics.</p> <p>o Responsible for the care/maintenance of equipment, grounds, classrooms,</p> <p>surrounding buildings, and other natural resource sites.</p> <p>o Assists with purchasing, budgeting, staff, and programming at relevant facilities</p> <p>and field operations.</p> <p>o Promotes and publicizes programs and opportunities to include the general</p> <p>public.</p> <p>o Coordinates with faculty and staff within the college regarding use of the</p> <p>facilities.</p> <p>Other duties as assigned.</p> <p>Qualifications - Education, Experience, and Skills</p> <p>Bachelor's degree required in Natural Resources, Land/Range Management, Conservation</p> <p>Biology, or closely related field required, Master's degree preferred.</p> <p>o Degree must be from a regionally or nationally accredited institution recognized by</p> <p>the U.S. Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation</p> <p>or equivalent as verified by a member of the National Association of Credential</p> <p>Evaluation Services, Inc.</p> <p>Minimum of 1 year of full-time, professional experience.</p> <p>Evidence of professional development in the field of concentration as demonstrated by</p> <p>activity in professional associations, consultative practice;
