<p>Position Summary</p> <p>This position provides legal counsel to DSPS attached regulatory professional boards, committees, councils, and the Division of Policy Development. Specific responsibilities include:</p> <ul> <li>Provide high-quality legal advice and support, including written and verbal work product regarding myriad complex and evolving legal and policy issues. </li><li>Draft clear and concise correspondence and position statements for matters under DSPS regulatory authority. </li><li>Oversee administrative rule projects and provide training on open meeting and open records laws and represent DSPS in license denial proceedings before administrative law judges, if needed. </li></ul> <p>Salary Information</p> <p>This position is in schedule-range (09-75) with an annual salary of $91,529-$120,786, plus excellent benefits. A twelve month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.</p> <p>Job Details</p> <p>Prior to any appointments for position(s) filled from this announcement, candidates may be subject to a comprehensive criminal background check.</p> <p>This state agency does not sponsor work visas. Any appointment made will be contingent on the applicant being able to prove valid status to work in the United States.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Candidates must be licensed to practice law in the State of Wisconsin prior to the application deadline.</p> <p>Qualified applicants must have all of the following:</p> <ul> <li>Experience conducting legal research on administrative issues including statutes and regulations. </li><li>Experience analyzing facts and law and providing legal advice/recommendations to non-lawyers. </li><li>Experience drafting legal documents including correspondence, memorandums, briefs, and proposed decisions, including findings of fact and conclusions of law. </li></ul> <p>In addition, a well qualified applicant will have experience with at least one of the following:</p> <ul> <li>Experience providing legal counsel to executive management and/or organizational clients. </li><li>Experience with licensing and/or employment discrimination law. </li><li>Experience performing legal work for professions such as pharmacy, nursing, medicine, counseling, real estate, or comparable experience in licensing or employment law. </li><li>Litigation training or experience (criminal, civil, administrative, or other). </li></ul> <p>How To Apply</p> <p>Apply online!
