For more information contact the Human Resources Recruitment office at 361-826-3300 to obtain Form SSA-1945 Windfall Elimination Provision.</p> <p>Grade: 106</p> <p>Salary: $10.51 Hourly</p> <p>Department: Library/ Hopkins</p> <p>E-mail: AshleyV@cctexas.com</p> <p>ATTENDANCE REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION ARE AS FOLLOWS:</p> <p>Rotating 25-hour work week, evenings and weekends required. Must be available to work additional hours as needed.</p> <p>Who May Apply?</p> <p>All persons legally authorized to work in the United States</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Assist at the public service desk an average of 4 hours daily and perform cash register duties including collecting fines and making change </li><li>Utilize the Koha Integrated Library System and perform a variety of tasks to include; checking materials in/out, renewing, placing holds and searching for requests </li><li>Sort returned materials and load carts in Dewey Decimal order for part-time aides performing a minimal amount of shelving and shelf-reading </li><li>Provide assistance in person and over the telephone </li><li>Help patrons locate materials on shelves and assists patrons with copier, online catalog, electronic devise (Kindles, Nooks, iPads, etc.), and computers, in relation to library e-resources </li><li>Supervise part-time aides when working as senior staff person during evenings and weekends </li><li>Perform opening/closing procedures including preparing a bank deposit, monthly reports and reconciling library funds </li><li>Repair library materials and edit catalog records </li><li>May be required to assist with weekly library programs and act as substitute for the children's librarian during his/her absence, taking turns with other library assistants </li><li>May be asked to perform other duties as assigned </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of Dewey Decimal System required </li><li>Must be able to communicate effectively, in person and over the telephone, and apply satisfactory customer service skills with individuals from diverse backgrounds </li><li>Knowledge of library resources (print and electronic) and reader's advisory is essential when assisting and instructing patron </li><li>Basic knowledge of cataloging principles and functions in OCLC preferred </li><li>Ability to troubleshoot minor problems with computers, copiers, printers and other equipment common to library environment </li><li>Basic knowledge of software such as Microsoft Office products is essential </li><li>Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Requires an Associate's Degree </li><li>Minimum of one (1) year of relative work experience </li><li>A combination of education may be considered </li><li>Public library experience strongly preferred </li></ul> <p>Other Information</p> <p>Basis of Rating</p> <ul> <li>Panel interview and Dewey Decimal test </li></ul> <p>Closing Statement</p> <ul> <li>Selected applicants must be able to pass a background investigation and a pre-employment drug test. </li><li>Any position that lists a minimum qualification for education level and/or license/certification will require the applicant to provide proof of documentation if selected for hire into the position with the City of Corpus Christi. </li><li>In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the general public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services. </li></ul> <p>Job opening will close on</p> <p>January 5, 2021</p>
