<p>Job Description</p> <p>Typical duties of the Shipping Clerk include receiving, verifying, and placement of</p> <p>incoming materials. Staging finished goods in the warehouse and for outgoing shipments.</p> <p>Complete required documentation; manage finish goods inventories and coordination of</p> <p>transportation for deliveries (as needed).</p> <p>Duties of Job:</p> <ul> <li>Examine shipment contents and compare with shipping documentation to verify </li></ul> <p>accuracy, condition, and temperature sensitive materials are acceptable and</p> <p>document findings.</p> <ul> <li>Report material shortages or shipment problems to Supervisor or to Assistant </li></ul> <p>Facility Manger, in the absence of the Supervisor.</p> <ul> <li>Report shipping and receiving information on required paperwork. </li><li>Move raw material and finished goods to and from storage or production areas, </li></ul> <p>and loading docks using material handling equipment.</p> <ul> <li>Maintain finished goods inventory in warehouse using a first-in, first out (FIFO) </li></ul> <p>system.</p> <ul> <li>Secure loads to prevent damage and shifting of product during transportation. </li><li>Maintain good housekeeping practices. </li><li>Answer phone calls and direct calls to appropriate parties or take messages. </li><li>Perform general office duties, such as ordering supplies, and maintain office </li></ul> <p>files and documents.</p> <ul> <li>Open, sort, and distribute incoming correspondence, including faxes and email. </li></ul> <p>Process outgoing mail.</p> <ul> <li>Freight billing </li><li>Invoicing </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.</p> <ul> <li>Minimum of 2 years work experience in warehousing operations and/or the </li></ul> <p>shipping and receiving function.</p> <ul> <li>Proficiency with obtaining shipping rates and transportation logistics. </li><li>Proficient with computers and computer software, including Microsoft Office </li></ul> <p>products.</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of management information systems for enterprise resource </li></ul> <p>planning. (SAP desired)</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of transportation industry, partial packaging logistics and </li></ul> <p>international shipping requirements desirable.</p> <p>Possess knowledge of DOT shipping, OSHA, EPA regulations and how these</p> <p>requirements apply to the shipping/receiving industry.</p> <ul> <li>Possess knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such </li></ul> <p>as word processing, managing files and records and other office procedures</p> <p>and terminology.</p> <ul> <li>Possess basic mathematical skills. </li><li>Possess good verbal and written communication skills. </li><li>Possess good organizational skills. </li><li>Capable of becoming fork truck certified. </li></ul> <p>Ergon Armor is a division of Ergon Asphalt and Emulsions, Inc. which produces and distributes various liquid asphalt products to the coatings and roofing industry.
