In this role, you can build a positive relationship with families, caregivers and visitors, all while advancing your own knowledge and exploring the numerous professional resources at Cleveland Clinic.</p> <p>A caregiver in this position works varying shifts, with local travel to Akron and surrounding areas as needed.</p> <p>A caregiver who excels in this role will:</p> <ul> <li>Help facilitate the successful delivery of services to linguistically diverse consumers. </li><li>Explain hospital procedures, office protocols and limitations to clinicians and patients, make appropriate referrals and serve as a cultural and linguistic resource to patients and providers. </li><li>Provide written transcriptions, such as filling out forms and medication instructions, medication schedules, letters, documents and patient materials. </li><li>Support office operations by answering the phone, taking requests, calling patients to confirm and schedule appointments, documenting encounters, entering data, troubleshooting, filing and photocopying. </li><li>Assist the department by working on an on-call rotation. </li></ul> <p>Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma/GED </li><li>One year of experience as an Interpreter </li><li>Fluency in English and Spanish/K'iche', both oral and written </li><li>Valid Driver's License (VDL) and automobile insurance coverage </li><li>Strong medical vocabulary </li><li>Knowledge of, familiarity with and ability to work with patients of diverse cultural background </li><li>Knowledge of computer systems </li></ul> <p>Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree in any area related to science or human services </li><li>Certified Healthcare Interpreter (CHI) Certification by the Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters (CCHI) or Certified Medical Interpreter (CMI) Certification by the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters (NBCMI) or other healthcare interpreting certificate </li><li>Professional and medical interpreting experience </li></ul> <p>Our caregivers continue to create the best outcomes for our patients across each of our facilities.
