<p>This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.</p> <p>Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional</p> <ul> <li>Develop an assessment of the Veteran in collaboration with the BHIP team, the Veteran, family members and significant others. The goal of the assessment is to highlight the Veteran's strengths, limitations, and internal/external supports and service needs to optimize the Veteran's functional status, formulate a diagnosis, and lay the foundation for the treatment plan, if necessary. </li><li>Demonstrates an understanding of the range of treatment and skills needed for substance abuse therapy, for all adult patients, including those with co-occurring disorders. </li><li>Understand the factors and causes of substance abuse, as well as the problems related to these disorders. </li><li>Responsible for developing the treatment plan and setting achievable and measurable treatment goals with the Veteran/family. </li><li>Throughout the course of treatment the SUD BHIP social worker is the subject matter expert on VA and/or community resources. </li><li>Collaborate with other service providers in reassessing the Veteran's needs. </li><li>Responsible for using the current behavioral medicine/social work resource file of VA and community social service programs and enhancing the content to the benefit of Veterans. </li><li>Refer the Veteran to needed services as determined by Veteran's needed level of care. </li><li>Act as an advocate when it serves the best interest of the Veteran/family. When appropriate and feasible, SUD BHIP social worker will educate and encourage the Veteran/family to advocate in their own behalf, thus fostering a sense of independence and empowerment. </li><li>Experienced in making rapid assessments and developing crisis management plans for admission to residential and co-occurring disorder inpatient programs and detoxification services in coordination with SUD specialty program. SUD BHIP social worker will provide crisis intervention, stabilization, and follow-up for Veterans and significant others. This includes evaluation and management of suicidal/homicidal patients and other psychiatric emergencies. </li><li>Provides education related to VA and community resources, entitlements, Advance Directives/Living Will and will refer Veterans/families/couples to the appropriate service provider for identified health education needs. </li><li>Provide the Veterans and their caregivers with ongoing supportive counseling. The purpose of such counseling is to deal with the psychosocial impact of coping with addiction, relapse, recovery, interpersonal relationships and cooccurring disorders. </li><li>Develop content for individual, family, and group therapy in order to obtain SUD and co-occurring disorder goals and objectives. Content will be open for supervisory review in keeping with accepted professional standards. </li><li>Works with Veteran/family in identifying community-based self-help groups and other resources to continue substance abuse and co-occurring disorder recovery and strengthen family relationships. </li><li>Order drug and alcohol screens to ensure patient compliance within the BHIP team and corresponding SUD specialty program. </li></ul> <p>Work Schedule: Friday-Monday, 8:00am-4:30pm</p> <p>Compressed/Flexible:Not Available</p> <p>Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): Not Authorized</p> <p>Permanent Change of Station (Relocation Assistance): Not Authorized</p> <p>EDRP Authorized: Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply for incentive.
