<p>Summary:# ### Performs a variety of clerical duties in connection with preparing, compiling and maintaining patient and hospital records in nursing service unit. Coordinates activities in unit such as scheduling patient#s tests as ordered by physician. Performs other clerical and accommodative services to assist the nursing staff. Transcribes physician#s orders onto unit records and files for nursing personnel. Prepares requisitions ordering laboratory tests, x-ray exams, blood tests and consultations requested by the physician. Orders medications and supplies for pre/post-operative patients. Regularly performs function of unit receptionist. Education: ### High School Diploma or GED. Experience: 3-6 Months experience as a receptionist or secretary. Skills and Abilities: Demonstrated CRT and typing skills. Skills in organization and priority setting. Ability to work cooperatively with peers and other disciplines. Demonstrated customer service skill. Ability to utilize sound interpersonal skills when interacting with patients and taking into consideration cultural background, linguistic skills and age of customers. Ability to respond to incoming calls, transcribe detailed and accurate message. Ability to file date/reports utilizing system design. Ability to read, write and communicate in English, required. Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with office peers/other departments. Ability to work independently and identify tasks that need to be completed. Knowledge of Medical terminology, preferred.
