<p>TECHNICAL SUPPORT MANAGER (CONTINUOUS T & E EXAM)</p> <p>Type:Full Time</p> <p>SALARY YPL: $103,186 - 121,234</p> <p>RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT WAIVED</p> <p>DUTIES:</p> <p>This position is responsible overseeing and directing the configuration, installation, implementation of network devices, PC's and other technology equipment. The work includes providing technical assistance in troubleshooting and equipment repair for devices on the network. An incumbent in this position is also responsible for researching and recommending improved hardware and software options and following the latest technological advances. While the ability to exercise independent judgement is required, general supervision is received from administrative personnel. Direct supervision is exercised over assigned personnel. Does related work as required.</p> <p>TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: (Illustrative Only)</p> <ul> <li>Upgrade, repair and maintain core network infrastructure equipment, which includes switches,routers, and other related devices; </li><li>Install and repair physical network infrastructure cabling; </li><li>Purchase hardware, software, printers and all technology supply needs through various vendors while adhering to local government purchasing best practices; budget for IT and infrastructure needs; work with vendors to negotiate pricing and service contracts; supervise RFP bidding process for IT services; </li><li>Oversee maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of peripherals including laser printers, projectors, and other technology equipment; </li><li>Manage and maintain mobile devices including mobile app purchases, patches and updates; </li><li>Install, maintain, replace and troubleshoot VOIP-based phone systems and PA systems; </li><li>Provide hardware and software support to users; </li><li>Configure and maintain helpdesk software used to track work tickets; </li><li>Deploy upgrades and security patches through the helpdesk system; </li><li>Supervise IT staff members and provide constructive feedback and coaching; receive complaints and resolve issues; </li><li>Prepare activity and progress reports; </li><li>Assess feasibility for new or additional equipment and software; </li><li>Trains and supervises on-the-job training of IT staff. </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>Candidates must meet the requirements of one of the following groups on or before the date of the written test.</p> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EITHER</p> <p>A) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered four year college or university with a Bachelor's Degree and two (2) years of experience in the installation, maintenance and technical support of computer software and hardware applications of which must have been in a supervisory capacity; or</p> <p>B) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered two year college or university with an Associate's Degree and four (4) years of experience as described in (A), two (2) years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity; or</p> <p>C) Graduation from high school or possession of a High School Equivalency Diploma and six (6) years of experience as described in (A) and (B), two (2) years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity; or</p> <p>D) An equivalent combination of education/training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) through (C).</p> <p>SUBJECT OF EXAMINATION:</p> <p>The examination will consist of a rated evaluation of training and experience.</p> <p>RATED EVALUATION OF TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:</p> <p>You will complete a questionnaire that asks for specific information on your information technology education (formal degrees, IT-related training courses, certifications) and experience. You will also be asked to briefly describe a significant achievement in each of the job's areas and to provide the name and contact information for someone who can verify your information. The information you provide about your experience will be rated against the following areas:</p> <ul> <li>Computer Programming </li><li>Help Desk </li><li>User Support </li><li>Microcomputer Repair </li><li>Network Administration </li><li>Data Communications </li><li>Telecommunications </li><li>Business / System Analysis </li><li>Website Development </li></ul>
