We encourage you to apply and become a valued member of our vibrant campus community today!</p> <p>At the University of Wyoming, we are committed to creating a supportive and enriching workplace.</p> <p>JOB TITLE:</p> <p>Branding Iron Online Editor-in-Chief</p> <p>JOB PURPOSE:</p> <p>To provide overall supervision of the Branding Iron Online publication.</p> <p>JFNTMP</p> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Attend weekly meeting with the Branding Iron editor and the Broadcast manager. </li><li>The online editor is required to work in the office no less than 10 hours each week. The times shall be designated by the online editor, and must be posted and followed. At least three of the 10 hours must be between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. </li><li>The online editor is responsible for getting Branding Iron articles and photographs onto the Web site by 8 a.m. each day of publication. Stories that are from the Branding Iron will be stored in a Web-compatible format for ease of placement. Coverage of sporting events on the weekends will be placed on the Web no later than midnight the day of the event. Any breaking news should be placed on the Web ASAP. The editor is responsible for making arrangements for one of the assistants to post that information if the editor is not available. </li><li>In addition to regular, timely updates of stories and photos generated by the Branding Iron staff, the online editor shall work with the BI Online content sub-editor to post related supplemental material with stories and photos. These items should be easy to find and involve a variety of forms of multimedia, including, but not limited to: photo galleries, SoundSlides, audio files, video files, podcasts, etc. </li><li>The online editor shall work with the Student Media advertising sales staff to facilitate timely publication and updates of paid advertising sold for the website. </li><li>The online editor is responsible for delegating work to any assistants, but is ultimately responsible for making sure the content is available in a timely fashion. </li><li>The online editor is responsible for managing and maintaining the Branding Iron social media accounts. </li><li>Attend Student Media Board meetings as ex-officio member. </li><li>Serve as a direct line to adviser, sales manager, production coordinator, and business manager. </li><li>Serve as a contact person with Communication and Mass Media Department. </li><li>Provide written Editorial Policy to the Student Media Board at the first fall meeting. </li><li>Superintend the operations of the online production and deadline schedules. </li><li>Need to be involved in active recruitment for class visits. </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Full-time student </li><li>Minimum 2.5 GPA </li><li>Firm grasp of Web design software and techniques. </li><li>Basic understanding of audio and video editing. </li><li>Newspaper experience, including writing news stories. </li><li>Must be available to start work Aug. 18, 2025 </li><li>Must be available for publication deadlines on Sundays and Wednesday nights. </li><li>Must be available Tuesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. for training. </li></ul> <p>DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Some supervisory experience. </li><li>Basic knowledge of what goes into a good newspaper story, as well as other newspaper editorial content. </li><li>Some prior newspaper experience. </li><li>Knowledge of AP style or willingness to learn. </li></ul> <p>REQUIRED APPLICATION MATERIALS:</p> <p>Complete the online application.
