This is reflected in the City motto, "Where Big Ideas Take Off!"</p> <p>DEFINITION:  Performs routine servicing, maintenance, and repair tasks on City automobiles, trucks, construction equipment, non-powered equipment, and other fuel, hybrid, and alternative-powered equipment.</p> <p>SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:  Receives supervision from the Equipment Maintenance Supervisor, may receive technical direction from the Equipment Mechanic II or the Senior Equipment Mechanic. Equipment Mechanic II may provide technical and functional direction to Equipment Mechanic I.</p> <p>DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: </p> <p>Equipment Mechanic I: This is the entry-level class in the Equipment Mechanic series. This class is distinguished from the Equipment Mechanic II by the lesser degree of independence, responsibility, and accountability exercised in the fulfillment of duties, and by the performance of more routine tasks and assignments.  </p> <p>Equipment Mechanic II: This is the journey-level class in the Equipment Mechanic series.
