<p>Job Summary</p> <p>The Center for Learning, Education and Research in the Sciences (CLEAR) seeks an Oberlin College graduate (Class of 2020-2025) for a full-time, 10-month Administrative and Professional Staff position as STEM Fellow. This non-continuing role (renewable for one year), will begin between July 1 and August 15, 2025, and reports to the Director of Inclusive Excellence in Undergraduate Research and STEM Education.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <p>The STEM Fellow supports inclusive STEM education at Oberlin by coordinating mentoring programs, student leadership teams, community-building events, and day-to-day operations of CLEAR. This 40-hour/week role includes occasional evenings and weekends.</p> <p>Essential Job Functions</p> <p>Mentor Program Coordination</p> <ul> <li>Assist with communication, training, orientation, and professional development for CLEAR mentors (OWLS, HOOTs, QUAILs) </li><li>Support logistics: room bookings, food orders, material uploads, payment processing, and attendance tracking </li><li>Collaborate on mentor curriculum and maintain CLEAR Wiki and training records </li></ul> <p>K100 Space and Community Engagement</p> <ul> <li>Maintain and organize CLEAR's space in the Science Center (K100), including caring for plants, ordering supplies, keeping the room tidy, and general upkeep </li><li>Foster a welcoming environment and support visitors and deliveries </li><li>Promote and track space usage in collaboration with the Director </li><li>Solicit event information, draft, publish, and send the CLEAR Newsletter </li></ul> <p>Program and Event Support</p> <ul> <li>Co-develop and lead STEM community programming in partnership with campus offices (e.g., MRC, Peer Tutoring, OUR, ODA) </li><li>Support signature programs such as Lab Crawl, BRANCHES & Boba, and the Anti-Procrastination Station, while exploring new initiatives </li><li>Co-develop and support CLEAR professional development programming including Orientation and Parliamentary sessions. </li></ul> <p>Student Supervision and Leadership Development</p> <ul> <li>Co-supervise CLEAR student coordinators with the Director and the BRANCHES leadership team alongside the OUR STEM Program Coordinator under supervision of the Director </li><li>Mentor student leaders and assist with community-building efforts </li></ul> <p>Administrative and Research Support</p> <ul> <li>Participate in data collection and analysis including tracking data related to attendance and program outcomes </li><li>Create report on CLEAR activities and outcomes </li><li>Option to pursue a small research or curricular project in collaboration with the Director </li><li>Other tasks as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Marginal Job Functions Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Oberlin College BA/BS (2020-2025) in a STEM field </li><li>Strong organizational, communication, and research skills </li><li>Reliable, detail-oriented, proactive, and collaborative </li><li>Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Word, and Excel </li><li>Flexibility for occasional evening/weekend work </li><li>Commitment to equity and inclusion in STEM </li></ul> <p>Desired Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Prior experience as a peer mentor or student leader (e.g., OWLS, HOOTs, QUAILs, TA roles) </li><li>Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle </li></ul> <p>Quick Link for Posting https://jobs.oberlin.edu/postings/16296 Compensation</p> <p>$32,000 salary plus benefits</p> <p>Special Instructions to Applicants</p> <ul> <li>Cover letter describing relevant experience and interest in the position </li><li>Résumé </li><li>List of three references, at least one of whom must be an Oberlin faculty member </li></ul>
