<p>The General Manager (GM) serves as the Chief Operations Officer for the club, amenities, and community association. The GM oversees all club and community operations, ensuring high-quality service delivery, strong financial performance, safe operations, and consistent alignment with Board-approved goals. The GM works directly with the Board of Directors, Troon leadership, finance and budget teams, staff, members, residents, and vendors. The role includes oversight of golf operations, food and beverage, agronomy, property management, community compliance, communications, and capital projects.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:</p> <p>Leadership & Administration</p> <ul> <li>Be a visible, engaged leader across amenities, golf events, member activities, and resident interactions. </li><li>Direct the administration and execution of Board-approved policies. </li><li>Develop, implement, and update operational policies and procedures. </li><li>Maintain a sound organizational structure; initiate improvements as needed. </li><li>Ensure adherence to Troon, ICON, TPC (if applicable), and community standards. </li><li>Coordinate and lead strategic planning efforts with Boards and committees. </li><li>Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local laws, including Florida Statutes relating to HOAs, CDDs, and club operations. </li><li>Act as liaison between the HOA and Golf Club Board (where applicable), ensuring aligned operations. </li><li>Maintain professional membership and participate in educational workshops. </li></ul> <p>Operations Management</p> <ul> <li>Oversee all operational areas: golf, food and beverage, clubhouse, recreation, maintenance, property management, lifestyle programming, and customer service. </li><li>Ensure the highest standards in golf course conditions, dining, recreation, hospitality, and amenities. </li><li>Lead major capital projects, including scope development, bidding, scheduling, vendor coordination, and communication. </li><li>Oversee annual agronomic planning, golf course improvements, irrigation planning, and long-range maintenance programs. </li><li>Inspect facilities, equipment, and grounds routinely; oversee repairs and maintenance. </li><li>Manage community compliance and violations processes. </li><li>Oversee solicitation and analysis of bids for services, maintenance, and construction. </li><li>Coordinate outside events, tournaments, and membership activities. </li><li>Ensure safety and emergency preparedness plans are current and implemented. </li></ul> <p>Financial Management</p> <ul> <li>Develop operating and capital budgets and monitor financial performance. </li><li>Review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; take corrective action as needed. </li><li>Manage cash flow and establish internal financial controls. </li><li>Oversee capital reserve studies and long-range capital planning. </li><li>Ensure timely tax filings and support annual audits. </li><li>Lead benchmarking efforts (Club Benchmarking, Beekman, market analyses, etc.). </li><li>Oversee dues/assessments billing and collections; manage delinquencies. </li><li>Maintain competitive bidding practices and evaluate lease vs. buy decisions for equipment. </li><li>Provide financial guidance to Boards and committees. </li></ul> <p>Personnel Management</p> <ul> <li>Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate all department heads and key personnel. </li><li>Maintain staffing plans that include succession planning and professional development. </li><li>Lead performance management processes, including evaluations and goal-setting. </li><li>Mentor staff and support growth of golf professionals and department leaders. </li><li>Ensure proper compensation administration and staff retention programs. </li><li>Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, professionalism, and service excellence. </li></ul> <p>Member, Resident & Community Relations</p> <ul> <li>Deliver prompt, courteous, professional service to members, residents, and guests. </li><li>Oversee communications programs, ensuring transparency with Boards and membership. </li><li>Support surveys and feedback initiatives; use results to drive improvements. </li><li>Promote membership engagement and club usage through programming and events. </li><li>Serve as public representative of the club and community when appropriate. </li></ul> <p>Governance & Board Support</p> <ul> <li>Attend Board and committee meetings; prepare reports and recommendations. </li><li>Provide guidance on legal matters and ensure compliance with governing documents. </li><li>Maintain updated policies, procedures, and membership eligibility rules. </li><li>Oversee member disciplinary process. </li><li>Support Boards in long-term planning, contract negotiations, and policy decisions. </li></ul> <p>Property & Amenity Management</p> <ul> <li>Oversee maintenance of buildings, common areas, grounds, equipment, and assets. </li><li>Manage scheduling, coordination, and oversight of repairs, renovations, and capital improvements. </li><li>Maintain records of usage, rentals, permits, maintenance, and expenses. </li><li>Oversee insurance coverage, claims reporting, and compliance. </li><li>Ensure consistent sanitation, safety, and operational standards. </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>Education/Certificates/Licenses</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma required; bachelor's degree preferred. </li><li>PGA and/or CMAA continuing education preferred. </li><li>Florida Community Association Manager (CAM) License required. </li><li>Must obtain and maintain any required local/state licenses. </li></ul> <p>Experience/Knowledge Requirements</p> <ul> <li>5+ years' Community Association Management experience. </li><li>5+ years Golf Operations experience. </li><li>5+ years Food & Beverage experience (fine dining preferred). </li><li>Strong understanding of Florida Statutes (HOA, COA, CDD). </li><li>Experience managing Boards, committees, and developer relationships. </li><li>Deep P&L knowledge and experience with club financial management. </li><li>Knowledge of HOA mechanics, club operations, agronomy basics, and hospitality. </li><li>Minimum of 10 years of professional experience is preferred. </li></ul> <p>Skills</p> <ul> <li>Strong communication and interpersonal skills. </li><li>Effective leadership, delegation, and team-building abilities. </li><li>Competent in budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis, and reporting. </li><li>Computer literate;
