Works as part of medical team; performing proficient administrative duties and clinical tasks as needed.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Prepares patients of all ages for examination and treatment. </li><li>Take patient histories and vital signs. </li><li>Prepares examination and treatment rooms with necessary instruments. </li><li>Gives injections that are in their scope of practice. </li><li>Prepares and maintains supplies and equipment for treatments, including sterilization. </li><li>Assists Providers in preparing for minor surgeries and physicals. </li><li>Review charts under direction of provider for next clinic day and obtains/places report results in charts. Makes list of anticipated needs for patient (i.e., health check, lab, vaccine). </li><li>May collect and process biological specimens for analysis and perform other lab tests. </li><li>Assists with scheduling of tests and treatments. </li><li>Ensures provider productivity by reviewing schedules throughout the day. Makes room for walk in patients when possible. </li><li>Maintains patient files, records and other information as required. </li><li>Maintains required logs for Health Center Grant Compliance to include lab logs, medication logs, pap logs, etc. Prepares and/or calls for prior authorization when necessary. </li><li>Attends required meetings and participate in committees as requested. </li><li>Maintains patient confidentiality. </li><li>Performs related work as required. </li><li>Assists in in-service trainings and orientation of new staff. </li><li>Participates in all safety programs which may include assignment to an emergency response team. </li><li>Assists with Quality Control measures. </li><li>Actively participates and is accountable for duties assigned that support the Mission and Values of being certified as a Patient Centered Medical Home. </li><li>Follows all CHS policies, procedures, regulatory and legal requirements. </li><li>Complete required trainings on time. </li><li>MA Reds and Covid vaccines. </li><li>Prior Authorizations. </li><li>In basket, referrals and overdue images. </li><li>Complete MA competency checklist. </li><li>Late Night Schedule. </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>Skills/Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Ability and determination to efficiently carry out Community Health System, Inc. mission statement. </li><li>Working knowledge of the sociocultural factors associated with the community's use of social and health care services necessary. </li><li>Ability to relate well to residents of low-income, multi-cultural neighborhoods, recognizing their right to participate in health care planning and decision-making. </li><li>Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, co-workers, and the public. </li><li>Ability to work under pressure and high stress, maintain personal composure, evaluate situations and act/react appropriately and use tact in dealing with visitors, patients and difficult situations. </li><li>Knowledge of organizational policy regulations and procedures to administer patient care. </li><li>Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care. </li><li>Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment. </li><li>Skills in developing and maintaining department quality assurance. </li><li>Ability to communicate clearly. </li><li>Knowledge of medical terminology. </li><li>Knowledge of medical practice and care to assist in giving patient care. </li><li>Knowledge of examination, diagnostic and treatment room procedures. </li><li>Skills in assisting in a variety of treatments and medications as directed. </li><li>Skills in taking vital signs. </li><li>Skills in maintaining records and recording test results. </li><li>Ability to read and respond to emails in a timely fashion. </li><li>Ability to identify and maintain confidential/HIPPA information. </li><li>Ability to work independently as well as within a team setting. </li></ul> <p>Education/Licensure/Certification</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma or GED required. </li><li>Maintains current Medical Assistant certification/registration preferred. </li><li>Bi-annual BLS Certification required </li></ul> <p>Related Work Experience</p> <ul> <li>1-2 years of experience, preferably in a medical office setting. </li><li>Bilingual Spanish, a plus. </li><li>Prior experience with individuals who have mental health or substance use disorders </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS</p> <p>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
