<p>Job Title: Phlebotomist I</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>The primary role of a Phlebotomist is to assist in various duties, troubleshoot, provide training, and recommend improvements to workflow. This position involves drawing blood and processing specimens in a clinical setting.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Perform blood draws and label specimens accurately. </li><li>Centrifuge specimens and record maintenance data. </li><li>Decontaminate equipment and update patient information. </li><li>Collect and store specimens according to established procedures. </li><li>Explain the venipuncture process clearly and courteously to patients. </li><li>Demonstrate techniques using straight and butterfly needles. </li><li>Understand and follow physicians' orders accurately. </li><li>Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. </li><li>Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required. </li><li>Check test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for accuracy. </li><li>Package specimens for transport and store them at the required temperature. </li><li>Ensure compliance with OSHA and DEP regulations. </li><li>Attend annual department trainings. </li><li>Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results. </li></ul> <p>Essential Skills</p> <ul> <li>Phlebotomy </li><li>Blood draw and venipuncture techniques </li><li>Specimen collection </li><li>Customer service skills </li><li>1+ year of recent phlebotomy experience in a clinical setting </li><li>Experience working with pediatric to geriatric patients </li><li>Ability to draw alone and perform hard sticks </li><li>High School Diploma or GED </li><li>Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite </li></ul> <p>Additional Skills & Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Phlebotomy certification preferred but not required </li><li>Minimum of 1 year of work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting </li></ul> <p>Work Environment</p> <p>The position is based at Prisma Health Baptist Hospital in Columbia, SC. This is an IOP account with working hours from Monday to Thursday, 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM, and Friday from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM, including a 1-hour lunch break. The role involves processing cultures and handling 25-30 patients at a 2-person site. Initial training and orientation will take place at the West Columbia PSC. The dress code and work attire are professional, and you will work alongside another phlebotomist.</p> <p>Job Type & Location</p> <p>This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Columbia, SC.</p> <p>Pay and Benefits</p> <p>The pay range for this position is $17.75 - $18.75/hr.</p> <p>Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
