<p>The Whitman School at Syracuse University is seeking an Assistant Director to assist with the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of recruitment efforts for the undergraduate program. The Assistant Director will meet with students and families, lead small and large information sessions, travel for recruitment events, assist with recruitment communications, and coordinate recruitment events on and off-campus. Additionally, the position oversees the day-to-day operations of the Whitman Visitors Center and is responsible for supervision of the student ambassador program, empowering students to play a vital role in recruitment and yield efforts. This is a full-time in-person position at the Whitman School, given the daily interactions with different important stakeholders. Whitman is investing heavily in their undergraduate program as part of their Whitman 2030 Transformation Plan. This position is an excellent opportunity to join a school on the rise with very strong student demand, record high job placement outcomes, and high programmatic rankings.</p> <p>Education and Experience</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred. </li><li>Valid U.S. driver's license required. </li><li>Three (3) plus years' experience in higher education such as admissions or student affairs preferred. </li></ul> <p>Skills and Knowledge</p> <ul> <li>Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation skills required. Must be prepared to interact with visitors daily in a professional manner that delivers a compelling and positive experience within Whitman. </li><li>Ability to establish and maintain strong, positive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and visitors. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. </li><li>Willingness to work evenings and weekends, as needed, and to travel for recruitment events. </li><li>Proficiency with technology including, but not limited to, MS Office/Excel, Zoom, Slate. </li><li>Attention to detail, organization, and the ability to manage multiple competing priorities. </li><li>Availability and willingness to travel domestically. </li><li>Availability and willingness to work in-person each day. </li><li>Availability and willingness to work on-campus and virtual events during evenings and weekends as necessary. </li><li>Familiarity with Syracuse University and the Whitman School is highly desirable. </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Plan, coordinate, and implement weekday, evening, weekend, virtual, on-campus, and off-campus recruitment and yield activities to secure an academically strong and diverse undergraduate class for the Whitman School. This includes event planning, meeting with prospective students and their families, recruitment travel and recruitment communications. </li><li>Travel to college fairs, student conferences, admissions events across the United States. </li><li>Use Slate and other tools to run reports and analyze data to inform the direction of and analyze the effectiveness of recruitment efforts. </li><li>Regular travel for expanded geographic recruitment that is a major part of Whitman¿s strategic plan. </li><li>Manage the Whitman Visitors Center including daily information sessions with prospective and admitted students and their families to discuss Whitman School opportunities, answer questions, and provide tours of the building. </li><li>Host large sessions of prospective and admitted students and their families to provide information about the Whitman School in a dynamic and exciting way. </li><li>Substitute for the Director of Undergraduate Recruitment in recruitment meetings and events when she is not able to attend. </li><li>Be knowledgeable about changes in curriculum and co-curricular opportunities, student stories, and University programs. </li><li>Collaborate with faculty, staff, students, and alumni to address student questions and provide timely information. </li><li>Manage the Whitman Ambassador Program and student employees including hiring, training and scheduling. </li><li>Students are responsible for assisting with prospective student sessions, building tours, preparing visitor information packets, and assisting with other recruitment activities. </li><li>Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of these programs in relation to visitor satisfaction and conversion to applications and matriculation. </li><li>Coordinate communications for prospective and admitted students and their families including publications, mailings, emails, social media, and website. </li><li>Review applications and recommend candidates for the Leadership Scholars Program and other special scholarship initiatives. </li><li>Plan and execute communications and events to yield leadership scholars. </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements</p> <p>Not Applicable</p> <p>Tools/Equipment</p> <p>Not Applicable</p> <p>Application Instructions</p> <p>In addition to completing an online application, please attach a resume and cover letter.</p>
